The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Augustus A. White. The Ellen and Melvin Gordon Distinguished Professor of Medical Education and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Dr. White is an extraordinarily accomplished medical doctor educator. He was raised in Tennessee where he experienced immense Racism in all areas of people activity - including health care. We'll discuss his 2011 publication: Seeing Patients: A Surgeon’s Story of Race and Medical Bias. He describes a particularly painful experience where he witnessed a black female - who he happened to know - die on the operating table. Dr. White writes about the tone the White doctor used prior to the fatal procedure: "Get on the table, Janet," he said to her. "Be quick about it. We don't have all day." Then he went off to scrub. An educator, author and father, Dr. Kambon has a reputation as a “radical,” “dangerous” black male because of his dedication and seriousness about liberating people classified as black from the “System of White Domination.” We’ll discuss concepts from his book, The Last Book, which examines the importance of “context” and offers a variety of recommendations to counter-racism. Dr. Kambon places tremendous importance on proper rest, eating correctly, and investing maximum time researching and reading how to counter-racism. Dr. Kambon sneaks in a few book and movie recommendations, and details his own journey to understanding that people classified as White are at war with non-white people globally. Award-winning author Darrell Bain visits The C.O.W.S. We'll digest Bain's Melanin Apocalypse - a controversial science fiction thriller about a man-made virus killing all the blacks in the world. The book summary reads as follows: "Scientists have declared that in ten years they will succeed in creating a radically new type of biological weapon. This weapon would be capable of infecting people according to a genetically predetermined marker such as skin colour or eye shape. The infection could have a delayed effect or only begin once a certain type of medicine." We'll dig into the meat of the text and what compelled Bain to construct a book like this. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Mrs. Doreen Lawrence. Mrs. Lawrence is a black female who resides in the United Kingdom. She is the mother of Stephen Lawrence. Stephen Lawrence was stabbed to death by a gang of teenage Racists. Stephen Lawrence was eighteen at the time of his death. No one has ever been punished for his murder. We'll discuss her book, "And Still I Rise": Seeking Justice for Stephen - which offers a thorough account of her views and courage.The next thing I remember is a shout of 'F*$@ing nigger.' I was too upset to do anything about it, but my sisters and cousin walked over and confronted the [Racist Suspect] who had shouted, and were called 'Black c*$ts.' in return. Cheryl said, 'it was bastards like you that killed my nephew.' The [White Woman] then said, 'If he hadn't been in this country he'd still be alive.' She then grabbed a brick out of the boot of her car and threatened Cheryl with it.
