The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Racist Suspect Tess Taylor. Ms. Taylor holds degrees in writing from New York University and Boston University. Her articles have appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, the Boston Review, The Time Literary Supplement and The New Yorker. She just released her 2013 publication of poetry, The Forage House. Earlier this summer, The New York Times published her essay, The Price of Rebellion. She talks about her White grandfather's alleged effort to combat Racism is Danville, Virginia. He was apparently served with a bench warrant, taken to jail, and sentenced to time in greater confinement. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Sylvia Vollenhoven live from South Africa. Ms. Vollenhoven is a broadcast and print journalist and media trainer. She founded the Vision in Africa media organization, and more recently brokered a collaboration to launch the Africa Means Business project - a long term, pan-African training initiative for business journalists. Ms. Vollenhoven produced the 2013 documentary film, Project Spear - which details the theft of approximately 60 billion rand [slightly less than 6 billion dollars US] from the South African government by Apartheid (Racist) bankers in the 1990's. The Context of White Supremacy Radio Program welcomes Ekwueme Michael Thelwell. Mr. Thelwell was born in Jamaica and is an alumnus of Howard University and the University of Massachusetts. He was a member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party of the Civil Rights Movement. Mr. Thelwell co-authored Kwame Toure's autobiography (Ready For Revolution) as well as many other works of fiction and essays. On the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March On Washington, we'll revisit his epic report which categorized the March in this way: "This exploitation of so many angry and sincere people, whose indignation was misrepresented as some kind of testimonial for the SYSTEM that had oppressed them, and against which they were protesting, must qualify as one of the greatest and most shameless manipulations of recent years." The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Saint Xavier University's Jacqueline Battalora, Ph.D.. Professor Battalora and Gus first met at the La Crosse, Wisconsin White Privilege Conference 2010. She conducted a masterful, surprisingly candid workshop entitled: The Invention of White People in Law. Unless Gus is mistaken, she has concluded that the White Racial Classification (The System of White Supremacy) was established to preserve and sanctify individuals who are classified /accepted as White - loosely correlated to phenotypical features of lighter complexion people. We will ask her to provide a scholarly, comprehensive explanation of WHY: White = Racist/White Supremacist. We will also request that she highlight the tendency of White people to celebrate/memorialize previous acts of White Supremacy and why everyone is required to practice and/or support White Supremacy in some form. Her theory is eerily similar to that of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing's theory of White Genetic Annihilation. We will ask if Professor Battalora is familiar with her work. She describes herself as "a cash strapped freelance filmmaker and social justice activist." Her films have dealt with an array of issues - from pollution to male circumcision. We'll discuss a few of her essays which cover the murder of Trayvon Martin, President Jacob Zuma's penis, and how she is complicit in the maintenance of White Supremacy. It would seem incorrect if we fail to mention former President Nelson Mandela as he just celebrated his 95th birthday in spite of poor health. She details her enthusiasm for joining a new company and her expectation that the White people would not be Racist. Unfortunately, Racist Jokes and overall tacky behavior became the ritual. We'll discuss how her understanding of Racism evolved, what she did to protect herself, and if she's revised her opinions of other family members who recommended a distrust of Whites. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 6th and final study session on Dale Carnegie's How To Win Friends And Influence People (1936). It seems many of our listening audience have found at least a few of Mr. Carnegie's suggestions constructive. The last portion of the text offers specific details on improving leadership. As with most of what we've read thus far, he continues to advise against excessive criticism. He encourages gargantuan doses of the opposite - sincere praise and encouragement. Carnegie also recommends that we reference our own errors before spotlighting other's missteps. This should prove especially helpful with Victims of Racism, as all of us were astronomically confused at some point. No one should be made to feel bad for being confused/victimized.
