The Business of Being Yourself with Tiffany Han (formerly Raise Your Hand Say Yes)

Everyone wants to teach women how to build businesses, but almost nobody is talking about the woman doing the building. But after 16 years in business and nearly 3 million podcast downloads, I’ve become convinced of something: You are the best asset your business has.

Which means that who you are, how you show up, what you believe, and what brings you to life are the business-building tools we *need* to be talking about. In this weekly-ish show, I explore ambition, creativity, visibility, reinvention, delight, and the messy, ongoing work of becoming more yourself on purpose. Because being who you are isn’t something you do after you’ve made it, it’s what makes everything else possible.

**This is an encore of Tiffany's Episode 11 interview with Caroline Kelso Winegeart in anticipation of her new interview that is coming out next week**

This week, I was thrilled to chat with Caroline Kelso Winegeart, the creative genius behind Made Vibrant. I met Caroline at ALT in 2013 and have been following her work ever since. I'm a huge fan and she is so fun to talk to!

Caroline and I covered so much in this episode, including starting new things, creative evolution, values, letting go of what looks good on paper, and keeping your eye on the prize. We also talk about confidence, "future-tripping," and how to get out of your own head. It's a good one!

    Show notes

Ah! I loved having Danielle Krysa, aka The Jealous Curator back on the podcast this week to talk about how our inner critics can get in the way of our creative work and what we can do about them!

RYHSY Encore: Danielle Krysa on Critics Dec 01, 2016
    Show notes

**This is an encore of Tiffany's Episode 55 interview with writer Danielle Krysa in anticipation of her new interview that is coming out next week**

I loved hearing Danielle Krysa's keynote at ALT Summit where she talked about the oh-so-loud voice of the inner-critic and I knew that she had to be on Raise Your Hand Say Yes! In case you're wondering, the conversation did not disappoint. We talked about the day Danielle's inner critic was born and how she eventually learned how to get past it.

We also talked jealousy and when it can be a good thing and what Danielle's learned about getting unstuck creatively. If you're someone who has ever been in a creative rut or wants to make great work but isn't sure how to start, this episode will be full of lightbulb moments for you! (Spoiler alert: It's all about priorities! Make some!)

This week's solo episode is all about anger - how to deal with it, what it might mean, and what you can do about it. I also talk about resentment , boundaries, and empowerment. Anger isn't a fun thing to talk about, but it's an emotion we all feel, so let's not hide from it, eh?

Tiffanie Turner is an architect-turned-artist who's currently focusing on large-scale paper flowers. Her work is amazing and her journey has been long and, sometimes, arduous.

In this week's episode, Tiffanie and I talk about how she's gotten to where she is now in her career, the myths about having a "big break," how she's developed resilience, and her secrets for making things happen.

Our conversation goes beyond what you're used to hearing about self-care, balancing family and creative work, and what it takes to be successful. I think you'll love it!

Ep. 114: Ann Shen on Reinvention Pt. 1 Nov 09, 2016
    Show notes

Ann Shen is an illustrator and writer and the creative genius behind the new book Bad Girls Throughout History. In this episode, we talk about how Ann started making art in her mid-20's in a decision that took her out of her "looks good on paper" career and put her into full-time art school!

We also talked about her new book, why she decided to focus on female trailblazers, and some of the surprising lessons she learned about "history" along the way.

If you're curious about what it takes to create a book like this, go back to art school as an adult, or rewrite (or reinterpret) stories, this episode is for you!

Bonus: Ann will also be back on the podcast next week for Part 2!
