EP 131: Revolution, Counter-Revolution & the Grounds for Upheaval with Here are the Headlines, Rachel Reeves Nov 20, 2023

Show notes

Many think we’re heading for a revolution but the truth is, as Rachel points out, we’re in it deep already. The massive cultural shift and erosion of our moral foundation IS the revolution… what we need is an effective counter-revolution. Listen as we discuss the (already well underway) revolution, read some historical context defining revolution, and think through how the ever push towards blending and homogenization of cultures leaves us with no culture at all-pushing us to a revolution. What does a counter-revolution look like? Are we strong enough to revolve the opposite direction? EP 130: The New Trail of Tears with Naomi Schaefer Riley Nov 13, 2023

Show notes

This episode is about the state of affairs on reserves and reservations in the USA and Canada. We talk with Naomi Schaefer Riley about her book, The New Trail of Tears, and about the reality that Native Americans and indigenous people have the highest addiction, suicide, abuse and poverty rates of any racial group in America. She details how property rights, autonomy, and equal legal protection could go a long way in changing the current standard of living. We also dive into education, the bureau of Indian affairs, the Indian child welfare act, colonialism, and how money handed out by the government and tribal leadership contributes to the rhythm of life on a reservation. Be prepared to have ideas questioned as Naomi pushes us to not just look at history as the source of all these issues, but modern day policy and “accepted” thoughts and beliefs as well.
