Ohio State vs. Miami Big Game Breakdown and Picks for Cotton Bowl quarterfinal Dec 30, 2025

Show notes

It's time to dig into the Cotton Bowl showdown between Ohio State and Miami as Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis break down and make picks for this College Football Playoff quarterfinal on New Year's Eve.
First discussed is the Ohio State defense vs. the Miami offense, as the Buckeyes try to get a pass rush against Miami's big tackles and affect quarterback Carson Beck. The Hurricanes feature freshman receiver Malachi Toney, but is that enough to challenge the No. 1 defense in the nation? Is this the game where Arvell Reese is actually unleashed again? Will the Buckeyes need to let him get after Beck?
Then it's the Ohio State offense vs. the Miami defense, as the Hurricanes defensive line will present a challenge. What will Ohio State do to keep Julian Sayin away from pressure? And how can the Hurricanes handle the healthy duo of Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate? Plus, Bo Jackson as a pass-catching threat? Why this might be the matchup for that.
Then Bill and Doug make their picks for the game, with the Buckeyes favored by 9.5 points.
Thanks as always for joining The Bill and Doug Show. For more Ohio State content, check out their Substack at billanddougosu.substack.com.
