Gary Johnson? Jill Stein? Evan McMullin? Tom Osborne? Recruiting talk is also on the board with gems like Elijah Blades, Deommodore Lenoir, Guy Thomas & Damion Daniels still to be nailed down. And the guys also try and help Mike Riley figure out who he should hire to fill the last position on his coaching staff.

    Show notes

On a post New Year hangover, Joe and Pat discuss the state of Nebraska football after the Huskers' loss to Joshua Dobbs, Derek Barnett, Alvin Kamara and Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. Will Mike Riley and staff close strong on the recruiting trail with guys like Joseph Lewis, Foster Sarrell and Robert Beal on the line? Will there be adjustments made to game plans and preparation? Will Tim Miles and Nebrasketball overtake Husker football after Nebraska's road wins over Indiana and Maryland? Those questions and more (like exactly how many games Pat can bowl on New Year's Eve) are answered on the latest Big Red Cobcast.

Big Red Cobcast Ep. 137: Dark Days Dec 19, 2016
    Show notes

Should Husker fans accept (or encourage) cheating? Should Nebraska fans be happy achieving moderate success without breaking the rules? Mike Riley, Tim Miles, Tom Osborne, Frank Solich, Lawrence Phillips, Nick Saban, Mark Dantonio, Joseph Lewis, Bo Pelini, Jim Tressel, Minnesota football, the SEC and steroids are all on the table this week. It was a healthy week of Nebraska conversation. NOW EAT!

Big Red Cobcast Ep. 136: Joe's Return! Dec 12, 2016
    Show notes

Joe Canale makes his triumphant return, joining Ryan and Pat on the Cobcast. The guys talk about recruiting, the Music City Bowl and death. Will the Huskers land Darnay Holmes? Do the Huskers want Darnay Holmes? What is the impact of Donte Williams' hire? Do Greg Johnson, Joseph Lewis and others follow Williams to Nebraska? What is the overall effect of bag men on the college football landscape? Does Nebraska want to join them in the realm of cheaters if it brings them a national championship? And how long will it be exactly before the guys can witness another Nebraska national championship? It's all on the table as the Huskers remain in preparation for their bowl game against Josh Dobbs, Butch Davis and Tennessee.

Big Red Cobcast Ep. 135: Bull Semen! Dec 05, 2016
    Show notes

With a week that involved Nebraska learning its bowl fate and (hopefully) landing assistant coach Donte Williams from Arizona, of course Ryan and Pat talk about HGH and bull semen. The guys also get into frank discussions regarding recruiting, Williams, Mike Riley, John Parella, the SEC's alleged cheating ways and the Music City Bowl (and the Huskers' trip to Nashville to take on Butch Davis, Josh Dobbs and the Tennessee Volunteers). The issue of who to root for in certain situations is also discussed as Jaysker Week (Nebrasketball versus Creighton for the uninitiated) arrives, in addition to a host of Big Ten rivals (cough, Iowa) prepare to face off against SEC jackwagons (cough, Florida) in bowl games. It's a time of conflict and heated discussion (and the occasional pee break) in this week's Big Red Cobcast.

Big Red Cobcast Ep. 134: I-O-WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?! Dec 01, 2016
    Show notes

Ryan and Pat wonder what the hell happened to the Nebraska football team they watched all season. Was the group of Huskers that pushed Wisconsin to overtime the same team that just got housed by Iowa (IOWA!)? Was the Ohio State loss indicative of something deeper with this team? Or was it a fluke, and we should all start focusing on recruiting because that's what's going to help this team turn the corner? Whatever the case, it's a somber room this week following the Big Red's loss to the Hawkeyes. On the table this week are the continued Mike Riley vs. Bo Pelini discussions, Tommy Armstrong, potentially racist comments made by one of the Huskers' offensive linemen, Bruce Read's dismissal, the Blackshirts' performance (including specifically Josh Banderas, Michael Rose-Ivey and Mark Banker), bowl projections (will we see Leonard Fournette?), and a little bit of Nebrasketball (God bless Tim Miles, Tai Webster, Ed Morrow & Glynn Watson). It's all out there, and it's all emotionally raw (and weird. It definitely gets weird). HIP! HIP!

Big Red Cobcast Ep. 133: Move Over Maryland, It's Iowa Hate Week! Nov 21, 2016
    Show notes

Big Red Cobcast co-hosts Ryan Tweedy and Pat Janssen welcome in Maryland superfans Brian Cooperman and Stephen Saffarewich to the in-game podcast. And Pat and Ryan delight in watching them see the Terps get run over by the Huskers (and marvel at their lack of actual knowledge about DJ Durkin and crew). But it's in studio on Monday when things really pick up, as Iowa Hate Week officially kicks off. The guys get it started in style with Iowa jokes abound. The guys also discuss the injury situations regarding Ryker Fyfe and Tommy Armstrong, who might fill the void at quarterback on Saturday (Zack Darlington? Patrick O'Brien? Lamar Jackson? Matt Turman?), who might fill the void at quarterback next season (Tristan Gebbia? Any of the above?), Mike Riley's big balls, and the need for Nick Gates, Terrell Newby, and the Nebraska running game to establish itself against the Hawkeyes on Friday. Get ready for Thanksgiving and a Husker victory by listening to the Big Red Cobcast!
