191. Love/Hate: Frost and the SEC Jan 08, 2018

Show notes

Joe and Pat celebrated Nebraska’s most recent bowl win, UCF’s Peach Bowl victory over Auburn, while taking the SEC to task over the College Football Playoff sham. It’s a very pro-Scott Frost, anti-Nick Saban/Alabama podcast. So basically, it’s like Tweedy’s actually here (instead of being sick). The only difference is that he’s not around to stop Joe from talking about the New York Giants or Pat from being a whiner.

190. Aaron Taylor Live From Menard's Parking Lot Jan 01, 2018

Show notes

The Cobcast boys start the 2018 season off having a nice long chat with National championship winning offensive lineman, Aaron Taylor. Aaron was gracious enough to talk to us from the comfort of his pick up truck while cuddling both his dog and his wife, Not necessarily in that order, from a Menard's parking lot. We talked about what it takes to make a champion, wether or not he thinks Scott Frost will live up to his hype, and everything else we've missed out on in the 20 years since he graduated. This was a terrific interview with a fun dude. LISTEN TO IT.

189. Merry Friendsmas Dec 25, 2017

Show notes

It's that time of year again. The season of Travel. Since Pat and Tweedy are actually autonomous beings that can't always be together. Also, it's Tweedy's equipment so he gets to decide what to do during the holidays.

Soooooo... Tweedy invited his smartest Husker friends (Nicson, Kadavy and Gasper) on to fellate the new staff, oogle over the early enrollees and predict the score of the UCF victories. this episode has a very different energy than most of our Cobcasts and it was very fun to make. I hope it's as fun to listen to.

Next week we will return to our usual show (we have a very special guest joining us so hold on to your butts).

The Big Red Cobcast wishes you and yours and very happy holiday season, happy new year and a hearty GO BIG RED.

188. HOF Black Shirt Chad Kelsay Talks About Nebraska Returning To Greatness Dec 18, 2017

Show notes

Nebraska football Hall Of Fame Blackshirt, Chad Kelsay joins Pat and Ryan this week to talk about how he thinks Nebraska will fair now that we have new management. We had a stellar discussion about what he thinks will be a renaissance of Nebraska football. Between Moos and Frost thinks are about to change around here.

Chad was a Nebraska boy that grew up in Auburn and had his childhood dream met when he became a Nebraska Cornhusker football player during a time when you "didn't need to recruit" Nebraska kids. He thinks that Scott Frost is going to bring that era back. We also talked about the Mizzou game in 1997 and watching Matt Davison make "the catch" from the sideline. The great defensive mind of Mr. Kelsay helped break down a 3-4 vs a 4-3 and what he thinks fans should expect of the defense moving forward.

The Cobcast boys, partnered up with Husker Max, keep bringing the fire with another great episode. There's gonna be more coming so why don't you subscribe to us here (http://bit.ly/art19cobhome if the hyperlink doesn't work)

187. Money Balling The Huskers With Paul Dalen Dec 11, 2017

Show notes

Politicians lie, lawyers lie, your family lies but you know what doesn't lie? Numbers. Numbers never lie. I mean well I guess they can be manipulated but that's not we're talking about right now.

Past performance is a good predictor of future success. So, with that n mind, Ryan Tweedy and Pat Janssen are joined by the statistician, Paul Dalen. Paul has been a sports numbers nerd his whole life and he's gotten really good at it. We decided to look at the numbers for UCF and Nebraska football teams from the last few years and see if we can find potential successes and potential downfalls.

We did. We found both. Wanna know what they are? You're gonna have to listen.

Go Big Red!!!
