Show notes
JASON AND JARED IN THE BUILDING. Here's what we got for you this week:
🔥 USMNT Stars in the Champions League The UEFA Champions League is heating up, and several USMNT players are making an impact on the biggest stage in club soccer. We break down the performances of Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, etc. as they battle against Europe’s elite. Who’s shining, who’s struggling, and what does this mean for the future of the USMNT in major international competitions?
We dive in the news that West Ham want Pepi and how his knee injury upends his 2025.
🎙 Jonathan Tannenwald on MLS and the US Open Cup We’re joined by the legendary American soccer journalist Jonathan Tannenwald to discuss the current state of MLS, its relationship with U.S. Soccer, and the future of the U.S. Open Cup. With MLS teams facing criticism for deprioritizing the nation’s oldest soccer competition, what does this mean for the tournament’s prestige? Will we ever see true investment from Major League Soccer in this historic cup? Tannenwald provides his expert insights into whether the US Open Cup can remain a legitimate national competition or if it’s on the verge of irrelevance.
🔄 MLS Transfers Go Wild in January! The MLS transfer window is wide open, and teams across the league are making massive moves to reshape their rosters for the upcoming season. We discuss the biggest incoming and outgoing transfers, including DP signings, TAM deals, and homegrown player departures to European clubs. Which teams are making the smartest moves? Who’s spending recklessly? And which MLS clubs are setting themselves up for success in 2024?
