Ep. 545: The Prettier You Are, the More Money You Make Nov 27, 2024
    Show notes

Pretty privilege is undeniable, but did you know that the more attractive you are, the more money you’ll make too? It doesn’t seem fair since our levels of attractiveness are pretty much fixed, but there are ways we can play up what makes us hot. People are always going to judge us for the way we look, so should we be focusing on looking hotter, just to make a little more money?

    “Don’t be embarrassed, but…” [2:48]

Pretty privilege in making money [8:00]

Is there an evolutionary reason? [10:21]

Ep. 544: A Publicity Stunt That Worked Nov 22, 2024
    Show notes

Did you watch the big fight? You know, the one between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. We were never much fans of fighting, but it seems like the whole world was tuned in to watch Jake Paul get knocked out, but we didn’t get what we wanted. Some people claim it was rigged, while others claim it was unfair to watch a 27-year-old beat up an old man. Personally, we were just glad to get a night off from talking about the election.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul [0:50]

How the match went down [2:47]

Ep. 543: Money and Morality Nov 20, 2024
    Show notes

Money matters, whether you like it or not. We believe that women deserve to make just as much money—and more!—as any man, and that wanting money is not a moral failing. After our marriages ended, it was more important than ever to be able to provide for ourselves, and we want the same for everyone. At the same time, we want to spend our money exactly the way we want to, while still living abundantly and generously, and of course getting to live a fun life that we fucking love. Money isn’t good or bad, but having access to money sure brings you options.

Wanting money doesn’t make you greedy [36:54]

Ep. 542: ChatGPT Saved My Relationship Nov 15, 2024
    Show notes

Danny has a secret weapon in her relationship, and it isn’t therapy. It’s ChatGPT. When things get heated, communicating is hard! Luckily there’s a perfectly neutral third party who has the brains to put together exactly what you want to say. It doesn’t even have to be romantic relationships—Chat can help with professional relationships and friendships, too. If you’re stuck looking for the right thing to say, maybe try asking ChatGPT what they would do.

Ep. 541: Leaving A Relationship for the Unknown Nov 13, 2024
    Show notes

Relationships are tricky, and it’s normal to wonder what life might look like outside of the one you’re in. Things get even stickier when the person you’re with is the only person you’ve ever known. We had a listener bravely share her doubts and confusion surrounding her relationship and her feelings of curiosity about what lies beyond and we wanted to give this more thought. We all only have one life, and spending it less than satisfied only hurts us down the road, but is there a clear answer in a situation like this? Can you trust yourself enough to jump into the unknown?

(This episode is a re-run from January 2023)

Things turn out the way they’re meant to [18:28]

    Show notes

When you split from a long-term partner, there’s a real period of grief you’ll experience. No one ever goes into a marriage thinking that it’ll end, and when the unthinkable happens, it’s normal to feel lost and lonely—your world has been uprooted entirely, but life just keeps going on. So what do you do with your time when, for the first time in a long time, you find yourself single? We’ve been there, Bestie, and while it isn’t easy, there’s a lot of beauty that can be found in being on your own.

    Show notes

Y’all know that we want to stay as healthy (and as hot) as we can for as long as we can, and a large part of that is our dental health. We’ve been taking our oral health seriously lately, and clearly, you need to hear all about it. Ep. 538: Making Attempts to Age Backwards Nov 01, 2024
    Show notes

We’re feeling a little chaotic lately, so we’re recording a chaotic episode for you today. We talk a little about the possibility of doing a retreat with all of our Besties, looking forward to our dogs’ extracurricular activities, and our favorite (and by that we mean our least favorite) subject—aging. Somehow, we just keep getting older, but we’re doing everything we can to cut that shit out. Maybe we can’t prevent ourselves from physically getting older, but we can guarantee our brains and energies stay sharp.

Ep. 537: Can Women Be Happy If They Aren't In A Relationship? Oct 30, 2024
    Show notes

We know the internet is full of people who say shit they don’t even believe just to rile us up, but damn does it get to us sometimes. There’s a new wave of men out there that think women who are single over the age of 30 can’t be happy, and if you’re a woman, you know how bullshit that idea is. We LOVE men, but sometimes they really piss us off. Yes, being in a relationship can make us happy, but it’s not the only thing that makes us happy, and at this point we’s be just fine without boyfriends. The men we’re in relationships with add so much to our lives, but our relationships aren’t the only things that give our lives meaning. And besides, how sad would it be if they only thing keeping us with our partners was the fear of being alone. We’ve been single over 30, and we’ve been in relationships over 30, and the presence of a man didn’t make much of a difference in our contentment with life.

    Religious pandering [4:20]

Can women over 30 be happy to be single? [5:48]

You can be single, happy, AND want a relationship [7:46]

Rage bait and self-fulfilling prophecies [11:02]

We like men, but we don’t need them [12:14]

Wants in relationships, not needs [13:46]

Moving on after relationships end [16:15]

There are a million ways to be happy in life [17:52]

Ep. 536: Could You Fall In Love With Someone You're Not Attracted To? Oct 25, 2024
    Show notes

Looks aren’t everything—but that doesn’t mean they don’t matter. But are you a bad person for turning someone away for the way they look? It’s normal to have physical preferences in a romantic partner, and of course you’re never an asshole for having them, but in our experience, for the right person, you’ll be willing to make some sacrifices on physical appearance. We’d rather look for a few really great personal qualities and a less than perfect body than a Greek God with the personality of a piece of cardboard.
