    Show notes

What if the real cost of clutter isn’t the money you spend on it, or even the space it takes up, but the time it steals from you?

After a scammer tried to use Amy’s debit card, she realised that although they didn’t manage to steal any money, they did steal two hours of her time dealing with the bank. That experience got her thinking about the many ways clutter does exactly the same thing.

Your stuff takes time to buy, bring home, find a place for, clean, store, organise and eventually get rid of. It can turn your evenings and weekends into a never-ending list of things you should be doing instead of relaxing, connecting with your family, being creative or simply enjoying your time.

Clutter can also steal the moments you actually want to remember. A toy bought at the aquarium gift shop can become what your child remembers instead of the incredible fish they saw. Christmas can become about presents rather than stories, connection and time together. Holidays can become about getting the perfect photo or buying souvenirs instead of being present for the experience.

You can earn money back, but you can’t earn yesterday back.

So what would change if you started seeing clutter as a thief of your time? Maybe you don’t need another thing to remember the occasion. Maybe you just need to experience it, tell the story and make the memory.

33 Questions: Attachment and Identity Sep 20, 2026
    Show notes

Decluttering isn’t always about whether something is useful. Sometimes the hardest decisions are tied to your heart, your memories and your sense of identity.

As you work through your belongings, ask yourself whether you’re keeping something because you genuinely want it, or because you feel guilty about letting it go. You can love someone without keeping the gift they gave you, and you can honour a memory without keeping every physical reminder of it.

Consider whether a photo, a story or a single representative item could preserve the memory while allowing you to let go of the quantity. You can also ask what you’re actually afraid will happen if you get rid of something, and whether that fear is a good enough reason to keep it.

Then look at what your possessions say about who you are. Are you keeping things because they represent who you used to be, or because of who you hope to become? Old hobbies, clothes that no longer fit, teaching resources from a previous career and things bought for an imagined future can all take up space in your home.

You can also ask whether you would choose to own something if you were seeing it for the first time today, whether anyone would actually want it after you die, and perhaps the most exciting question of all: what are you making room for by getting rid of this?

Sometimes decluttering isn’t about losing something. It’s about creating space for the life you want now.

    33 Questions: Future & Regret Sep 13, 2026
    Show notes

When you’re decluttering, it’s easy to get stuck on the things you might need, the money you’ve already spent, or the regret attached to a purchase. But your decisions become much clearer when you start looking at the reality of your life today.

In week two of the 33 Decluttering Questions, you’ll explore two categories that can make letting go particularly difficult: the future, and money and regret.

You’ll consider whether you have a realistic plan to use something in the future, or whether you’re keeping it for a hypothetical version of your life. You’ll also ask whether an item could easily be borrowed, rented or replaced if you ever did need it.

Sometimes the thing keeping you stuck is what you’re waiting for: downsizing, the kids moving out, or even getting permission from someone who can no longer give it to you. You’ll also look at what you could gain by letting something go, whether that’s physical space, easier routines or the opportunity to use a room differently.

Then there’s the money. You’ll unpack the very common tendency to keep something simply because you spent a lot of money on it, or because letting it go means admitting you regret the purchase.

The money is already spent. What matters now is the decision you make based on the reality in front of you.

These questions can help you move away from fear, guilt and hypothetical futures, and towards more intentional decisions about what belongs in your home today.

Clean Home Roadmap Aug 30, 2026
    Show notes

Keeping your home clean isn't just about cleaning. It starts much earlier than that.

If you've ever felt frustrated because no matter how much you clean, your home never seems to stay that way, it might be because you're trying to start at the wrong end of the roadmap.

Instead of focusing on cleaning first, work your way through the roadmap that make cleaning easier. Start by understanding your why. Knowing why you want a calmer, cleaner home gives you the motivation to begin. From there, declutter by letting go of what you no longer need. Once you have less to manage, you can categorise similar items, create organised homes for everything, and make tidying a simple matter of putting things back where they belong.

When your home is organised, tidying becomes quicker. When it's tidy, cleaning suddenly takes a fraction of the time and effort.

Rather than trying to overhaul your entire home at once, choose one small space, like your bathroom or wardrobe, and work through each step. Build the right foundation before moving on to another area.

    Remember the roadmap:

Know your why → Get motivated → Declutter → Categorise → Organise → Tidy → Clean

    Download the Roadmap Here

When you follow the steps in that order, maintaining your home becomes far more achievable, and you'll spend less time managing your stuff and more time enjoying your home.

Tidy Dad with Tyler Moore Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

In this conversation with Tyler Moore, better known as Tidy Dad, you'll discover how a mental health breakdown, a tiny New York apartment and the chaos of raising young children became the catalyst for creating a simpler, more intentional life.

You don't need a bigger house, more money or a perfectly organised home to live well. What you need is alignment between your space, your values and the life you actually want.

Together, we explore why decluttering is about far more than getting rid of stuff. It's about making decisions that reduce overwhelm, creating systems that make tidying easy, and learning to stop chasing the life you think you should want.

You'll hear why "just enough" is a freeing mindset, how to let go of the fear of "what if I need it someday?", and why decluttering often uncovers deeper life changes. Tyler also shares his concept of "surthrival", those seasons when life stretches you beyond your capacity, and practical ways to find joy even in the middle of difficult circumstances.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by clutter, questioning your priorities, or simply wanting a home that supports the life you want to live, you'll come away encouraged to make choices that create more freedom, not more pressure.

Your home doesn't need to be perfect. It simply needs to make room for what matters most.

    Blame Aug 16, 2026
    Show notes

If you've ever caught yourself saying, "My house is cluttered because..." you're not alone. There are genuine reasons why clutter builds up, from ADHD and autism to chronic illness, grief, financial pressure, caring responsibilities, or simply being in a demanding season of life. Those challenges are real, but they don't have to leave you feeling powerless.

Instead of asking who's to blame, consider asking, "What can I do differently because of this reality?" That simple shift moves you from feeling stuck to finding practical solutions that work for your unique circumstances.

You'll hear examples of how to reframe common barriers, whether you're living with chronic pain, navigating mental health challenges, adjusting to a new baby, or managing a busy family. Rather than expecting yourself to follow systems designed for someone else's life, you can create systems that support the way you live right now.

You'll also explore the blame that often gets directed towards partners, children and even well-meaning grandparents. While you can't control other people's behaviour, you can take ownership of the spaces, routines and decisions that are within your control.

A cluttered home doesn't mean you've failed. It often reflects the season you're in. By acknowledging what's true, adjusting your expectations where needed and taking one small step forward, you can create a home that feels calmer, more functional and easier to maintain, without guilt or perfection.

    Bras Aug 09, 2026
    Show notes

You probably have more bras than you actually wear, and chances are, some of them haven't fit properly for years. Instead of hanging onto uncomfortable, damaged or "just in case" bras, it might be time to create a collection that supports your current life.

You'll discover why it's so common to keep bras that are expensive to replace, no longer fit, or were bought for a specific outfit you don't even own anymore. You'll also learn the tell-tale signs that a bra has reached the end of its life, from stretched elastic and poking underwires to gaping cups and constant adjusting.

You'll hear practical advice on how many bras you really need, why a professional fitting can make such a difference, and how changing seasons of life, pregnancy, menopause, weight changes and ageing all affect what works for your body.

You'll also pick up simple storage ideas to help protect your bras and make your daily routine easier. Whether you prefer drawers, dividers or hanging your everyday bras on a hook, a few small changes can make your wardrobe feel more organised and help you actually wear what you own.

If you've been putting off replacing worn-out bras or keeping a drawer full of "maybe one day" options, this is your reminder to choose comfort, confidence and function over clutter. Your wardrobe, your clothes and your body will thank you.

Path of Least Resistance Aug 02, 2026
    Show notes

Your brain is constantly looking for the easiest way to get things done. It's not because you're lazy. It's because your brain is designed to conserve energy.

When you understand how the path of least resistance works, you can stop fighting your natural instincts and start designing a home that works with you instead of against you.

If you find yourself dropping everything on the kitchen bench, digging through grocery bags hours after shopping, wasting time looking for clothes, or constantly searching for everyday items, there's a good chance your home is creating unnecessary decisions.

Every one of those small decisions adds to your mental load. By reducing friction and giving frequently used items logical homes, you can make everyday tasks feel almost automatic.

Small changes, like reorganising your kitchen around your dishwasher, simplifying your wardrobe, creating consistent systems for unpacking groceries, or limiting the products you keep out in the bathroom, can save both time and mental energy.

You'll also learn why decluttering can feel surprisingly exhausting, why staying hydrated and fuelled matters when making hundreds of decisions, and how creating simple systems allows your brain to focus on the things that really matter.

If your home feels harder to manage than it should, looking at it through the lens of the path of least resistance could completely change the way you organise your space and simplify your life.

Functional vs Aesthetic Organising Jul 26, 2026
    Show notes

Do you organise your home based on what works best, or what looks best? The answer might explain why some spaces are easy to maintain while others never seem to stay organised.

Discover the difference between functional organising and aesthetic organising. Instead of trying to copy someone else's organising style, learn how to identify what actually motivates you and helps your home function well. You’ll most likely land on a combination of both functional and aesthetic organising which makes total sense.

You'll hear practical examples from all around the house, including wardrobes, bathrooms, pantries, paperwork, pet supplies, charging stations and medications.

You'll also see how small changes, like removing lids, choosing matching containers or leaving everyday items visible, can completely change how easy a space is to maintain.

If you're someone who loves beautiful labels, matching containers and calm-looking spaces, you'll understand why those details matter. If you're more interested in quick, practical systems that are easy to use, you'll be reassured that function is just as valuable.

Rather than choosing one style over the other, you'll be encouraged to find the balance that suits your personality, budget and lifestyle. Some areas of your home may benefit from prioritising function, while others are worth making visually appealing because they'll motivate you to stay organised.

Take a fresh look around your home and ask yourself one simple question: does this space need to be functional, aesthetic, or a little bit of both?
