Joey asks Aki what Shounen Anime she'd recommend to someone who hasn't ever seen one before. Aki says definitely One Piece (even though she hasn't seen it). No one really has anything bad to say about it. It is a pioneer of Shounen, it's still going and it has a ridiculously dedicated fanbase. The only downfall is that it's very lengthy, so if she had to recommend something shorter Aki would say Boku no Hero. What would yours be?

This week Joey the Anime Man and AkiDearest give their thoughts on the Anime adaptation of Shounen Manga Black Clover. Neither of them like it. They think the voice actor is annoying, the voice is like fingers scratching on a chalkboard. It's not just the voice acting that's bad; everything is predictable. Some people like it, and the duo think people who haven't seen a Shounen before might like it. But if you've seen other Shounen Anime then it's boring because you've seen it all before; that's where the backlash is coming from. They don't know what went wrong though because the studio who made the Black Clover Anime has made a lot of great Shounen Anime adaptations. What do you think?

Anime cliches; what it would be like if they happened IRL Nov 07, 2017

This week Joey the Anime Man and AkiDearest talk Anime cliches. There's a ridiculous amount of cliches in anime, and Joey and Aki want to try some to see what would actually happen in real life. There's the toast in mouth and Aki wants to test out nose-bleeds. Joey wants to know, if you fell on a girl how would you actually land because in Anime it's like an impressive yoga move. Also how slow can you fall; Anime slow-mo is epic. There's also the running, yelling, high-pitched voices, how fast you need to run to have your skirt fly like it does in Anime, friendship power (to beat the bad guys) and so the list goes on. What do you want to test IRL?

Joey and Aki really really don't like Magical Girl Apocalypse. While talking about the best horror mangas, the duo go on a rant about Magical Girl Apocalypse and why it's so bad. Joey thinks the art is good but that's about it. Aki doesn't even like the art, but she didn't want to 'judge a book by its cover' so she read it, and didn't like it. They don't think the manga knew what it wanted to do, or be. Joey thought it was going to get better as he kept reading...it didn't. What do you think about it?

This week Joey and Aki are talking about the best horror manga! It's Halloween, so Joey and Aki give us some good manga to get our hands on. The duo think Kazuo Umezu and Junji Ito are two of the grandfather's of horror manga. Joey admits that he thinks Oyasumi Punpun is one of the best series ever made. They're worried that the streaming platform won't do it well, or do it justice. They can see a lot of memes coming out of how bad the anime will be. This week Joey and Aki talk about Japan's Idol culture. Aki watched a documentary on Japan's Idol culture and now she is (slightly) obsessed. The documentary looked at the stigma surrounding idols in Japan and the effects around that. It looks in to how Japan's population is decreasing and how the Idol culture may be feeding into a culture that distracts men (and some women) from dating. The duo also talks about what defines an 'Idol' - are Perfume and Baby Metal idols? Joey isn't sure...
