    The only thing that's correct about our corrections system is that it's royally screwed up. How else can Canada's youngest serial killer be upgraded to a medium security prison. Cody Legebokoff killed four women by the age of 20, but somehow he's been upgraded just a few short years into his life sentence. This is the fourth time in the past few months that a serial killer has been upgraded from a maximum security prison, which shows just how correct our corrections system truly is.

    Alex discusses the ongoing controversy over allegations of attempted political interference by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his senior officials in the case of SNC-Lavalin have anti-bribery officials from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development “concerned.”

    And the anti-bribery officials there warned on Monday they have sent a letter to Canadian authorities noting they will be following the case closely.

    “The OECD Working Group on Bribery is concerned by recent allegations of interference in the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin that are subject to proceedings in the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights,” said the OECD in a statement.

    New autism supports coming to Ontario schools due to therapy funding changes Mar 11, 2019

    Alex is joined by Bruce McIntosh, Activist and Advocate with the Ontario Autism Coalition to discuss how school boards will get additional money to support students with autism. Ontario’s education minister announced Monday that as hundreds of kids may soon enter school because they will get less funding for therapy.

    Autism and education advocates said the announcement does little to address a problem of the government’s own making an attempts to turn teachers into therapists.

    Ron Taverner withdraws from consideration for OPP Commissioner Mar 07, 2019

    Alex is joined with Jason Lietaer, Conservative Strategist and President of Enterprise Canada to discuss Ron Taverner's decision to withdraw from consideration for OPP Commissioner. In a short letter sent Thursday afternoon to the Community Safety Minister, Sylvia Jones, Taverner said the decision to withdraw stemmed from the controversy surrounding his appointment and to protect the integrity of the rank.

    The 72-year-old Toronto police superintendent is a family friend of Premier Doug Ford, and his appointment set off accusations of political interference in the hiring process for the province’s top policing job.

    Taverner, who had been in law enforcement for 51 years, said in the letter that he was grateful to have the confidence of the government and believed his experience and skills would have served the public in the best possible way.

    China cancels canola shipments from one of Canada's largest exporters Mar 06, 2019

    Alex is joined by Matthew Fisher, a former longtime foreign and war correspondent, Visiting Scholar in Defence and International Affairs at the University of Toronto's Massey College, to discuss the cancellation of Richardson International's registration, meaning it can no longer ship seeds to China. The Winnipeg-based agriculture handler contributed to the $5 Billion worth of canola that was shipped from Canada last year, with half of that directed towards the Asian marketplace.
