#82 Bye Bye Boobies — The Why, The How, and What No One Tells You About Breast Reduction Surgery Jun 17, 2025
    Show notes

Okay, so… I got my boobs done. Not implants. I got a breast reduction—and in this episode, I’m walking you through everything: the emotional backstory, the wild insurance hurdles, the drains (ugh), the Hooters farewell tour, and why I would do it again in a heartbeat.

From being the first girl in fourth grade told to wear a bra to breastfeeding three kids, this has been a long time coming. I share what pushed me to finally do it, how I chose my surgeon, and all the things no one really preps you for when it comes to healing and reclaiming your body.

    We talk about:

    • Growing up with big boobs and feeling hyper-visible from a young age
    • Why this felt like a personal and physical reclamation—not just a cosmetic decision
    • The continued struggles with health insurance coverage
    • How painful and weirdly humbling recovery really is (have you ever tried showering without raising your arms?!)
    • Shower hacks, pain meds, body image shifts, and parenting while healing
    • Answering your DMs about cost, implants vs. reductions, and explaining it all to your kids
    • Why running out of Hooters in slow motion should honestly be an Oscar-nominated short film (someone call Pamela Anderson and ask her how she survived Baywatch beach runs!)

This episode is for the girls who’ve ever wanted to feel more at home in their body—and the ones Googling “can you sleep without a bra?” because same.

    👀 MENTIONED:

    • Dr. Victoria Suh in Fairfax, VA https://www.victoriacosmeticsurgery.com/
    • My viral Hooters farewell video https://www.instagram.com/p/DGLgaEmJMzZ/
    • Post-op items I wish I’d known about before surgery https://amzn.to/442OPh6

    💬 If you’re thinking about a reduction…

You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Not the internet, not your cousin, not some guy named Henry from Norfolk. 🙃 But if you want the story, this is mine—and I hope it helps you feel more prepared, informed, and supported (pun intended).

    Show notes

If you’ve ever whispered “my body is not my own” after motherhood—or stared at your postpartum belly wondering what happened to your core—this one’s for you.

In this week’s episode, I’m joined by twin mama, yoga and Pilates instructor, and all-around calming presence Kristin McGee. We talk about everything from healing diastasis recti (yep, that dreaded core separation) to parenting solo, starting over after divorce, and how to actually make time for yourself when everything feels like “too much.”

    We get into:

    • Becoming a mom later in life and navigating IVF, pregnancy in your 40s, and the “geriatric” label 🙄
    • The honest truth about twin birth (Kristin went to 39.5 weeks!) and recovering from both vaginal birth and a C-section
    • Why pelvic floor therapy should be standard postpartum care
    • Tips for managing life as a single parent (and finding a new path after a dream job ends)

    • Breathwork and tiny rituals that actually help in moments of mom-overwhelm

Kristin is the real deal—so grounded, so generous, and deeply honest about the beauty and the burnout that comes with this season of life. Whether you’re healing your core, healing your heart, or just figuring out how to hold everything you're carrying, this episode is like a deep exhale.

    Show notes

What if your parenting style, work habits, and even your sleep struggles could all be explained by your energy type?

In this episode, Human Design expert Erin Claire Jones is back—this time to talk about her new book (How Do You Choose), the realities of parenting with young kids while launching creative work, and how understanding Human Design has shifted the way she parents, partners, and paces herself.

    We cover:

What Human Design looks like in real life—with babies, back-to-back meetings, and someone always needing a snack

Why being “lit up” matters more than being productive (especially for Manifesting Generators)

How rest, space, and honoring your energy type actually makes you a better parent

What it’s like raising kids with four different energy types in one household

Ways to support your kids and yourself using Human Design—without adding more to your plate

Plus: Erin breaks down all five Human Design types—Manifesting Generator, Generator, Projector, Manifestor, and Reflector—and shares stories, myths, and practical insights to help you better understand yourself and your family.

✨ Whether you’re deep in toddler mode, navigating marriage after babies, or simply trying to get a decent night’s sleep, this episode will help you feel more grounded, more aware of your patterns, and more compassionate with your own capacity.
