Episode 68 – The Son Of Big Breakfast Dec 28, 2015
    Show notes

The guys got on their Sunday night recording grind for you, dear listeners, for you. They hope you enjoy the result.

They guys spend a lot of time discussing past Holiday parties, so if you’re not into that maybe consider just skipping to the twenty-six minute mark? If, however, Holiday Parties align with your personal brand then this is a show for you. Starting around the four-minute mark Dave talks about the historic shortcomings of Iron Galaxy Orlando Holiday parties….until this year when they’ve snatched the “Best Holiday Party of all Time” crown from Iron Galaxy Chicago’s 2010 banger. Before you can protest this claim: It’s not even close.

Darryl dove head-long into the Steam ecosystem over Holiday break, and fell in love with Gone Home. Dave then discussed getting sick after Christmas, and he’s son’s dark voyage into the breakfast sandwich subculture.

Team GFB Radio – Episode 68 – The Son Of Big Breakfast

Original Air Date: December 27th, 2015

4:10 – Dave builds a strong case that no one from IGO is career-oriented.

10:00 – Dave catches Darryl stealing money from him, and sings him a new, beautiful song he made up on the spot.

11:00 – The guys start to recap the IGO Holiday Party, and Dave details the sordid Holiday Party history of IGO.

19:45 – I guess Ramon gave a speech at the party? Did that happen? I guess it did.

26:00 – Darryl gets into PC games, somehow?

38:00 – Gone Home spoilers begin.

40:15 – Gone Home spoilers end.

41:30 – They guys talk about Steam’s problems over break, and Dave explains SteamSpy to Darryl.

46:35 – Dave sneaks in a zinger on Darryl, and then talks about his United Premier status for a bit. Turns out he’s salty about it.

50:20 – Dave got “backed up ” after Christmas.

52:30 – Darryl’s daughter inspires him to dive into Pixel Art tools.

56:45 – Dave talks about his son getting a Hamilton Beach sandwich maker, and his oldest daughter’s first foray into social media.

Episode 67 – The Force Was Not With Frank N Steins Dec 21, 2015
    Show notes

This show is split up into three distinct parts:

Part 1: Small talk with Dave and Darryl. The guys talk about some immutable laws of game dev, the Orlando Team GFB meet-up, and some light game chat.

Part 2: Dave does a solo email session, and realizes he ruined an otherwise lovely Anniversary present for a CCG.

Part 3: Star Wars Spoiler Cast.

(We forgot to do a GFB at the end of the show, and the guys have never been more ashamed).

Team GFB Radio – Episode 67 – The Force Was Not With Frank N Steins

Original Air Date: December 18th, 2015

5:00 – After a lengthy preamble Dave shares two of Mefford’s Laws of Game Development.

7:25 – The guys go over the debacle that was the Orlando Team GFB meet-up. They learned two valuable lessons: 1) Call the venue first to make sure they are open 2) Don’t schedule against Star Wars.

13:55 – Dave complains about travel. What a baby.

16:00 – The guys talk Assassins Creed Unity, Fallout 4, and Her Story.

23:55 – Dave does some solo emails. First up is Juan G who puts #DWiz on blasters.

25:40 – Friend of the show Keir makes his last appearance on the show.

29:05 – Danielle wants a signed picture for her husband. As I’m writing the show notes I’m realizing we blew her secret. Sorry.

30:10 – Corey from Berkley wants to know something Dave can’t help him with. Why did he read this email, then? He’s a tease! That’s why!

33:25 – Dave from Detroit doesn’t know how acronyms work.

36:40 – STAR WARS SPOILERS BE HERE.

Episode 66 – Team GFB Presents: Dave Lang and the CCG All-Star Spectacular Dec 14, 2015
    Show notes

The entirety of this show was recorded live from the Playstation Experience, where Dave interviewed a metric ton of CCGs. He started off talking with Playstation’s Matt Kessler, but was quickly ambushed by CBSi’s Jeff Gerstmann mid-interview. Please savor this chat, as we suspect it will be the last time Matt will be allowed to speak on Playstation’s behalf.

After getting Matt to roll over on several business partners, Dave and Jeff chat up Matt’s boss, Gio Corsi of Playstation. Gio is a show veteran, and comports himself with an unusual dignity and flair. From Gio we roll right into Friend of the Show Keir, where he and Dave basically agree on what it would be like if they were to play a game of American 21. Post-Keir, Dave talks to Adriel Wallick about the joys of living in Amsterdam, and making games on trains.

Things get serious when Dave finds Dose One for a discussion on fist fights in Philly, music and sound production, and other heady issues of the day. Immediately after that, Dave bumped into Dan Teasdale and Panzer of No Goblin, who were still riding the high from their new game, 100 Robot Feet, being announced during the PSX Keynote.

Dave wraps up the podcast by chatting with Kahlief Adams from Spawn on Me, where they come up with a great idea for a new show they will never do, and Isaac Torres whom you all will quickly forget as he didn’t bring his A-game.

Team GFB Radio – Episode 66 – Team GFB Presents: Dave Lang and the CCG All-Star Spectacular

Original Air Date: December 11th, 2015

2:00 – Dave and CBSi’s Jeff Gerstmann (@jeffgerstmann) interview SCEA’s Matt Kessler (@MattBodega) and, in a shocking turn of events, Matt goes heel on several business partners. RIP, Matt’s career.

10:45 – Dave and Jeff interview SCEA’s Gio Corsi (@giocorsi) about what Matt just said, because Jeff and Dave couldn’t believe what happened.

17:15 – Dave chats up Friend of the Show Keir Miron (@KeirMiron) about Darkest Dungeon, and Dave speculates how a game of American 21 between Dave and Keir would go (PS, Dave wins 21-0).

27:50 – Dave converses with Adriel Wallick (@MsMinotaur) about her several projects (Train Jam, Game A Week), as well as what it’s like to be an ex-pat in the Netherlands. Also cookies.

40:00 – Dose One (@doseonetweets) jumps behind the microphone and the dudes chat Music Production, fist fights, and Gentrification.

51:55 – Dave grabs Panzer (@panzerskank) and Dan Teasdale (@deliciousbees) talk about their new midget robot football game, and Dave comes up with an idea that might split No Goblin in twain.

59:10 – Dave catches up with Kahlief Adams (@Kahjahkins) about his podcast (Spawn on Me), X-Clan, and they come up with a new idea for a great podcast they will probably never follow-up on.

1:12:15 – We round out the show by talking to Isaac Torres (@Delriach) about how he transitioned from QA to Design at Iron Galaxy. He makes it sound easier than it is.

    Episode 65 – I’m Dreaming Of A GFB Christmas Dec 07, 2015
    Show notes

Feeling good about this one. We revisit the glory that isn’t sex in the Prius. Darryl talks about his first Turkey Day in Orlando. Dave fell into the show hole that is Hannibal. In short, the show gets off to a good start.

And somehow…it keeps rolling. Dave talks about trying to buy Assassins Creed Syndicate and Fallout 4…before succumbing to crappy download times and playing Unity. Then Dave is getting ready to go to PSX, and gets Darryl caught up with what he should expect.

Then things get awkward. Dave, for only reasons he understands, decided to role play as one of Darryl’s children. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Then he did that two more times. After that if you’re into rap music, Dave thinks you might enjoy the new Lice EP. Finally, the guys hit up a few emails before sailing away into the good night.

Episode 64 – Free Play, All Day Nov 30, 2015
    Show notes

The guys pooped out this turd of a show right before Thanksgiving, so forgive them, their minds were elsewhere.

Dave starts by getting Darryl caught up on the snowfall he missed by deserting to Orlando. Classic Darryl, he actually misses snow!

Darryl takes command of the show with an epic retelling of his visit to Free Play Florida, where he checked out bunch of coin-op, pinball, and legacy home systems for a low, low entry fee (but not free, as the name of the show may suggest). He also tried to get Sexy talking about Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker…and that was a mistake.

The guys then talk about the massive stack of games they have on their plates, so if you like hearing people talk a lot about games they haven’t played yet this section is dedicated to you.

Finally, Dave talks about the last Divekick update before the guys answer a couple emails.

Team GFB Radio – Episode 64 – Free Play, All Day

1:00 – It snowed in Chicago, and Dave and Darryl realize they should switch where they live.

4:30 – Darryl went to “Free” Play Florida and checked out a bunch of coin ops. He also didn’t see Billy Mitchell.

7:15 – Darryl gets sexy describing Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker.

16:45 – Darryl talks about some old home systems he saw at the show, and Dave launches into an oddly placed anti-Jaguar rant.

23:45 – Darryl and Dave talk about all the luxuries I-Drive has to offer. THIS IS LIVING!

29:35 – Dave shares his initial impressions of Dying Light, and the guys talk about what’s next on their stack of games.

44:10 – Dave talks about the final update to Divekick. Good riddance!

47:45 – Emails! Friend of the show Hassan wants to know what it takes to stay up to date on different game engines.

54:30 – Richard wants to know about Crusin’ USA! We can’t help him there, but we do talk some Midway stuff.

    Episode 63 – Get Monked! Nov 23, 2015
    Show notes

After last week’s disaster of a show the guys are back with a Certified Banger. Sorry about that, we’ll never have Jebailey on again.

The guys start with Darryl getting sexy and Dave getting hype. Then Dave goes into an extended retelling of his Extra Life stream for Giant Bomb, and boy, if you’re super into Until Dawn you’re in luck. Turns out that game is amazing, and they guys talk at length about it (they veer briefly into spoilerville, but you can avoid that easily enough with the timestamps below). Until Dawn is currently in the driver’s seat for GOTY.

The show gets rounded out by talking about Dave’s trip to Oculus, and friend of the show Liz sends in a quality email.

Team GFB Radio – Episode 63 – Get Monked!

Original Air Date: November 20th, 2015

3:10 – Darryl uses his sexy voice (he gets it down low).

5:45 – Dave recaps his Extra Life weekend, starting with how much Best Buy sucks.

14:45 – After some technical issues, the stream begins proper.

16:45 – Dave and Darryl begin talking about their Until Dawn play-throughs.

24:05 – They spend a moment talking about “Getting Monked.”

30:15 – The guys get into SPOILER TERRITORY for Until Dawn.

31:00 – We leave SPOILER TERRITORY.

40:35 – The guys make a Thanksgiving Break playdate.

42:30 – The stream recap continues! Onto the Steam games.

44:30 – Dave and Darryl played Ryse MP, and if you don’t like that game you are probably a bad person.

Episode 62 – Darryl Interviews Alex Jebailey Nov 16, 2015
    Show notes

With Dave out of town, Darryl is left with few options and is forced to interview Alex Jebailey, Community Manager for Iron Galaxy and the man behind the fighting game tournament series Community Effort Orlando.

Want to know how Alex got started at IG? Want to hear all about how he won the Blockbuster Videogame Championship? No? Perhaps you’re curious how Alex got so good at fighting games? Not that either? Do you want to hear about how he met Adam “Keits” Heart, and got added as a character in Divekick? Boy…tough crowd. Well, at one point he awkwardly forces the conversation onto how he gets stalked a lot by ex-girlfriends (one is forced to assume this was a misguided attempt to relate how good he is with women) and it made me cringe, you’ll want to hear that for sure.

Team GFB Radio – Episode 62 – Darryl Interviews Alex Jebailey

Original Air Date: November 13th, 2015

2:39 – Darryl makes a new Penguin Mints discovery: Citrus Penguin Mints. This is not a drill, repeat, this is not a drill.

3:55 – Who is Alex Jebailey? Alex is glad you asked.

7:40 – Alex talks about how he won the first ever Blockbuster Videogame Championship.

13:20 – Alex talks about Arcade Culture

15:10 – Alex gets into his gaming tournament, CEO.

22:30 – How did Alex and Keits meet? How did Alex get into Divekick? Those are great questions that we desperately hope you care about.

32:30 – Alex talks about how he got his break at Iron Galaxy.

44:45 – Alex shows he’s never listened to the podcast before.

Episode 59 – Getting the Lighting Right Oct 26, 2015
    Show notes

This edition of Team GFB Radio starts off with a fire remix of the OG theme from Nate! Good job by you Nate.

The guys get caught up on Darryl’s Disney exploits, some Destiny shenanigans, and go over Dave’s calendar shoot before diving into a bunch of emails. Have you ever been curious about what lawyers in the Video Game industry do? Or, maybe, you want to know more about St. George Utah? No? You don’t give a shit about any of that? Well do you want to know how the US Air Force ended up selling a bunch old Midway games? If yes to this, we actually have no clue, so track down the answer and hit us up. The last two emails are travel related! The guys plan a vacation for someone visiting America for the first time, and someone hitting up Chicago wants the deets on the best affordable eats in the city.

Team GFB Radio – Episode 59 – Getting the Lighting Right

Original Air Date: October 23rd, 2015

4:25 – Darryl and family went to Disney, and screwed up the Dole Whip.

10:15 – The guys sort through the mysteries of the Pirates of the Carribean/Johnny Depp timeline.

16:40 – Dave did nothing, and it was glorious? Sure. Glorious. Also, Dave got screwed by Destiny.

25:00 – The guys pimp the subreddit again, and Lang gets into details on the Men of Gamedev calendar Photo Shoot.

30:40 – Email time! Michael from Denver wants to know a bunch of lawyer stuff, and tries to promote his hometown. Lang talks about when IG was targeted by a patent troll.

39:00 – Josh from St. Geroge, Utah writes in to say we are cool. Lang takes this opportunity to educate everyone on St. George’s High Desert.

40:25 – Scallycap wants to know how the US Air Force ended up selling some old Midway games. The guys don’t know, but have a theory.

43:50 – Chris from Australia and partner are coming to the states, and want to know the must-visit spots. The guys spend an abnormal amount of time planning their vacation. Dave also single-handedly insults vast swathes of the US populous.

54:45 – PC in Philly had some questions he needed answered a month ago. We answer them anyway. Hope you enjoyed Chicago, PC!
