Today’s podcast is the third in a series this month about redeeming the season to build or strengthen relationships with your children and prepare yourselves for a wonderful homeschool year ahead. So far, we’ve talked about the opportunities that summer time gives us, noting that it’s time to start saying “yes” to things that will allow us to spend meaningful time doing things that are important to our kiddos. We’ve also talked about doing the unexpected and engaging with your children in ways that may be surprising to them. Today, we're going to be addressing one of the most important components of parenting, and honestly one that we all agree with on the surface but sometimes we allow things to happen in practice that take us in a completely different direction. It's a super easy pit to fall into, we we'll look at some very specific ways you can focus on being present with your children both this summer and all year long. We’re also super excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a one day event in San Diego California October 22. That will be our first ever event on the West Coast, and we’re thrilled that God has opened the door for us to bring TTD to so many who’ve been asking us to. You can learn more about that event and secure your ticket by clicking HERE. Additional Resources: Click HERE to find previous podcasts from this series. This month, we’re taking a little time to talk about building relationships with our children. Last week, we talked about the opportunities that summer time gives us, and we noted that it’s time to start saying “yes” to things that will allow us to spend meaningful time doing things that are important to our kiddos. Be sure to check that out if you missed that episode, for I believe that you’ll get some great ideas and a better understanding of why you’d want to intentionally spend time investing in those relationships and where that investment can lead. Today, we’re looking at another way to build or deepen relationships with our children as we talk about Doing the Unexpected. You’ll find that this is the “how” that supports the “why” we discussed last week. Sponsored By: Trail Life is where boys and men thrive! With more than 40,000 members in nearly 900 Troops across all 50 states, homeschool moms and dads are discovering the power of outdoor adventure and badge-based education to engage boys, nurture faith, and awaken a love for learning. This week, we are excited to speak with Linda Lacour Hobar. Linda is the author of The Mystery of History and the host of The Mystery of Home Education podcast. Through homeschooling her children, and service as a missionary, she discovered a deep love for world history where the famous and the infamous have left their mark in time. In the year 2000, Linda sensed a clear call to write The Mystery of History for her children, grandchildren, and generations to come that they might know as Colossians 2:3 tells us “the mystery of God . . . in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Today, Linda is going to be talking all about the difference between stair step subjects and living subjects. STEM Education and the Homeschool Family | 131 Jun 16, 2022
    Show notes

This week, we’re talking all about STEM– science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and we’re joined by Robert Walsh, who joined us for events this season in both Round Rock, TX and Pigeon Forge, TN. In 2019, Robert recognized a disparity in access to STEM education. This inconsistency leads to some students having a competitive advantage when applying to college and for the jobs of the future simply as a result of where they go to school. The Excalibur Solutions STEM Academy exists to help level the playing field and ensure that all students have access to quality STEM education. The content they develop not only teaches students basic skills in computer programming, electronics, and engineering, but also gives them the chance to engage in activities to help them discover whether a future in STEM is right for them. Buckle up, because you’re about to learn a whole lot of great information about how we can prepare our children today for the opportunities that await them tomorrow. You may have noticed Homeschool Subjects hitting your inbox every Sunday evening, and we hope you really enjoyed the content we’ve been sending. Each weekly edition of homeschool subjects will bring you the same teaching you’ve become accustomed to receiving each week from Teach Them Diligently, as well as news and information about homeschool and family that we’ve curated just for you– and that we truly believe you’ll be interested in reading. In addition to that, each week, we’ll share a Tip or trick from a Teach Them Diligently family, upcoming events or content that you can be on the lookout for and more. There’s even a way for you to share Homeschool subjects with your friends so you can easily earn free merch like stickers, tshirts, sweatshirts, and more. If you’re not receiving homeschool subjects, go to HOMESCHOOLSUBJECTS.COM today and sign up! Then, tell all your friends to do likewise. I think you’ll LOVE the merch we’ve prepared for you to win.
