Bridgerton Characters Jan 03, 2021

Show notes

Toni and Wendy are back and stalling! This episode is for everyone, but especially for those who need more time to finish the entire season. We’re talking about each of the main characters from the show, hopefully without spoilers. We start with the matriarch of the Bridgertons and then her offspring according to alphabetical order. Then we touch upon the happiest in color family, the Featheringtons. Their happy colors doesn’t seem to impress Queen Charlotte though, and we don’t know what the Cowpers think too. What we do know is Daphne had Prince Friedrich and Nigel Berbrooke as suitors, but it was the Duke who makes her swoon. We can’t forget those closest to Simon, Lady Danbury and Will Mondrich. Last but not least, we have the ladies who will do what they need to do: Siena Rosso, Madame Delacroix, and Marina Thompson. Who’s your favorite character so far? Overall, we love the characters and the actors playing them. Join us as we discuss the Bridgerton characters and let us know if you have different thoughts. Until then, this is the last warning, we’ll be looking out for more buzzy updates and watching for our next episode on the Bridgerton breakdown of episode one!

Bridgerton Reaction Dec 27, 2020

Show notes

The wait is over, and Shondaland has Wendy and Toni left wanting for more Bridgerton! Yes, dear friends, we have binge watched the entire first season and currently watching them again. We also participated in the Bridgerton Twitter Live event for episodes one and two, and will attend the upcoming balls. A follow-up crossover episode with Plot Trysts to discuss which adaptation to film theories we got right or wrong is definitely needed. To hear our predictions, check our @litwallflowerspodcast IG page for the link in bio. One early topic was Henry Granville and his man-on-man scene. We got the other man’s identity wrong, but Granville plays a big role in Benedict’s back story. There were changes to Lady Danbury’s character and saw her influence with Simon. The previous Duke of Hastings was horrendous and we loved it. Lord Nigel Berbrooke, will we see him in future seasons in comparison to the books? We love the Eloise and Benedict interactions, especially when Eloise said, “You’ve have to be interesting.” Anthony is conflicted throughout the season and he ends with a declaration to marry, but not to his brothers as we theorized. Hopefully he’s leaving his rakish ways that we’ve seen in this season, or most of it. Then there’s the duke and duchess who obviously made better choices at the end to become one. Be warned, the trigger scene is included in Episode 6: Swish and handled differently than in the book. We got some theories right, but wrong at the same time. We didn't give too much detail in this episode to give our fellow busy bees time to watch the entire season and to prepare for the last book “On the Way to the Wedding” for the next #BingingBridgerton Readathon. Overall, we loved everything, even the ginormous reveal at the end! Join us as we discuss our overall reaction, and until then we’ll be preparing and looking out for more buzzy updates for our next episode on the characters!

#Bridgerton Full Trailer Dec 20, 2020

Show notes

The Bridgerton full trailer dropped and Wendy and Toni have much to say about that less than three minutes of gloriousness! We were gifted pictures and articles every day since the drop to help us piece everything together. We received Tweets, emails, and DMs from fellow fans. We witnessed the presentation of Daphne to Queen Charlotte, snorting in front of the Queen and Prince Frederick, and another meeting with the Queen with her intended. We saw the meet-cute of the future Duke and Duchess and that eye connection! There were times when Daphne looked happy, nervous, scared, or distressed. We got another part of the dinner pea scene. Anthony and Siena had some steamy screen time and she’s involved in a theory resulting in the fight between Anthony and Simon. One article gave away a big spoiler about Marina resulting in a theory to her and Colin’s role. Benedict went to a scandalous house party. #Peneloise walking about the town and we get a glimpse into the conversations best friends have when together. This trailer definitely showed world building for the possible future seasons. We learned about Lady Danbury and her role with Simon. We saw Simon holding a pistol for the duel scene. The trailer ends with the Bridgerton family plus Hastings together with Colin saying, “tempt scandal more often.” When would this scene take place? We're so excited for more leading up to the premiere. As a thank you for all the support, we’re giving away Bridgerton goodies, so be like Lady Whistledown and keep a look out on our IG page. Until then, prepare for the ”It’s In His Kiss” #BingingBridgerton Readathon this Saturday at 3pm EST. We’ll be back with more buzzy updates and an overall reaction next “Society Papers Sunday” after watching Bridgerton on December 25th!

Bridgerton Buzzy Week Dec 13, 2020

Show notes

We received lots of holiday presents this past week! Julia Quinn hosted or attended Instagram Live interviews this week, and if you listen carefully, there may be spoilers within them. We had some screen time with cast members from their press junkets, and boy were the interviewers asking great questions. Toni received an extra present from Wendy to add to her shadow box frame with the help of Sarah (IG @romantically_swept_away). For listeners, we have the JQ and Book Club Girl Podcast interview. For visual readers, we have the article “Julia Quinn on Seeing Her ‘Bridgerton’ Novels Transformed for TV” by Valentina Valentini on Shondaland.com. The ladies from Fangilrlish not only write tweets, but gave us their take on the characters from two points of view on their YouTube channel. We can stare at the Bridgerton billboards picture and watch the Times Square digital screen clip. Nicola Coughlan (aka Penelope Featherington) went on the Graham Norton Show and courtesy of Netflix, we got a clip of #Polin and Cressida Cowper. We bring thoughts from fans, news about Episode Seven finally being named, and theories about world building, the Sheffields, and a season cliffhanger. Until then, prepare for the ”When He Was Wicked” #BingingBridgerton Readathon this Saturday at 3pm EST. We only have till the end of the weekend to digest all the goodies we received because it seems we’re bringing more buzzy updates very soon!

Bridgerton More Sneaky Tweets Dec 06, 2020

Show notes

Wendy has found some buzz for Toni and the Bee community! We bring more sneaky tweets from someone who has read the books. The Twitter account answered questions posed by fans. Some are evaded and some are unanswered due to a gag order, which is okay, the suspense! Also, Julia Quinn had a Instagram Live interview with author Stefanie Sloane, and of course Bridgerton came up. (Side note: “Under the Mistletoe” has a Julia Quinn novella at the end of the book). Thank you to fellow fans who have been helping us bring everyone news. There’s a plot of land for Bridgerton use. There’s a theory explaining why there’s a non-existent Hastings ball happening in the show. Of course, we are wondering when we are blessed with a full trailer, but there is the Shonda Rhimes and Julia Quinn interview to look forward this week. Until then, we’re preparing to be guest hosts for the “To Sir Phillip, With Love” #BingingBridgerton Readathon this Saturday at 3pm EST. We hope to see you on the YouTube Live event and maybe we’ll have some buzzy updates before our next episode!

Bridgerton Peas Dinner Scene and Sneaky Tweets Dec 01, 2020

Show notes

The flying peas! Toni and Wendy break down the dinner scene released last week. The book describes the events of this scene, but the show gives us context with world building information known to us if we read the next Bridgerton books in the series. If the identity of Lady Whistledown interests us, so does the entire Bridgerton family, but they can all agree who the writer can’t be. Also, there are beautiful fan art posted, some already posted on our @Bridgerton2000 social media platforms, and look out for the fan art we commissioned. It will be available on our Zazzle shop with other Bridgerton merchandise. What will most likely not be turned into products is a Colin and Marina line. #Polin! That garden picture with no gloves and bonnets has us wondering and feeling many things. Then, this episode had to be rerecorded, but we got wind of sneaky tweets from someone who was given access to the entire first season! We were too excited to read the tweets in an organized manner, but we were elated! There is a sensitive scene in the book so please visit @Peacelovebooksxo’s “The Duke and I Live Show l Binging Bridgerton Readathon” video on YouTube for Julia Quinn’s first ever statement about the specific scene to understand the author and story better. Until then, I hope everyone is excited and preparing for the “Romancing Mister Bridgerton” #BingingBridgerton Readathon this Saturday while the ladies collect and bring us all the buzzy updates!

Bridgerton Global Fan Event Nov 26, 2020

Show notes

During this time of giving, Toni and Wendy recorded a bonus episode giving the scoop on the Bridgerton Global Fan Event this past week. At least, the information they think they’re allowed to divulge and could hear beyond the screaming, clapping, and crying. We were utterly surprised when some of the cast members appeared and took part in answering some fan questions. The cast told us stories during their down time, even what the horses did to “Simon and Daphne” when filming started. The event presented THREE sneak peak trailers, one being released during the event which is now known as “The Pea Scene.” The event ended with the cast members, Chris Van Dusen, and Julia Quinn giving us what they hope the fans and audience will take away from the show and their words were simply beautiful! Toni misheard Jonathan Bailey’s take away which is just as great and made Wendy laugh, but a bit naughty. Another great article to read is ‘Everything You Wanted to Know About Regency London, the High-Society Setting of “Bridgerton”’ by Valentina Valentini, available on Shondaland.com. Also, “be forewarned, dear reader,” the ladies go into spoilers and theories (timestamp – 37:20)! Until then, I hope everyone is excited and preparing for the “An Offer from a Gentleman” #BingingBridgerton Readathon this Saturday while the ladies collect and bring us all the buzzy updates!

Bridgerton Costumes & Sets & #Polin Oh My! Nov 22, 2020

Show notes

This week, Toni and Wendy has lots to say about the articles and pictures we were blessed with this week! We get more insight into the vision for the show in the “How Showrunner Chris Van Dusen Built the Regency World of ‘Bridgerton’” article by Valentina Valentini on the Shondaland.com, complete with pictures. We also got pictures of the costumes and sets from Bad Taste Italia. Guess how many costumes were made for this eight episode season. Who else wants a pink rug in their home? Author Julia Quinn was also on an interview with Swedish author Simona Ahrnstedt celebrating romance getting its due. Then set costume designer Ellen Mirojnick explains herself in the “How Bridgertons Costume Designer Put Together Its Gaudiest, Tackiest Dresses (on Purpose)” article by Rachelle Hampton on Slate.com. The costumes are great and we are here for it! And … how about that #Polin picture! We are willing to receive more pictures of them even with the risk of breaking the internet. Hopefully everyone got to attend, view or gather information on the Bridgerton Global Fan Event today which the ladies will be reviewing very soon. Until then, read “An Offer from a Gentleman” for the #BingingBridgerton Readathon while the ladies collect and bring us all the buzzy updates!

#BingingBridgerton on Discord - The Duke and I Nov 15, 2020

Show notes

We got a non-Whistledown article, “How Bridgerton is Poised to Revolutionize Romance on Television,” by Maureen Lee Lenker and hope it has been read by all! It gives us insight to the vision of a historical romance in modern times, “which features classical string arrangements of contemporary pop songs.” Plus, are you gushing over the newest pictures we’ve been blessed with recently? This week, Toni and Wendy noted some hot topics on the #TheDukeandI chat on Discord and would like to shed some light on the topics and hopefully not give out any spoilers. Does Daphne have friends? Is Daphne and Simon the favorite couple amongst the series? What do we think about the previous, father Hastings. Most importantly, thank you to Julia Quinn for addressing a controversial part of the book when asked by one of the Discord hosts. Until the next Bee news, enjoy reading the next #BingingBridgerton Readathon book, “The Viscount Who Loved Me,” to understand the significance of bees and the Mallet of Death!

Bridgerton Teaser Trailer Break Down Nov 08, 2020

Show notes

Toni and Wendy went frame-by-frame, second-by-second to break down the Bridgerton trailer we were gifted with this past week! They’ve noticed the music, the eyebrow lifts, Lady Whistledown narrations perfectly matched the frames, and much more. With research and help from our fellow Brazilian friends, we know what the first edition of Lady Whistledown’s Society Paper said. There definitely was many avenues to take for discussion. Hastings is back, but what do we think was written on the note while looking forlorn? What has Penelope looking so sad? What has Daphne riding her horse so hard for? We shall see! Until the next Bee news, join the ladies as they participate in the #BingingBridgerton group chat starting with “The Duke and I” on Discord!
