He is one of the people who helped open NYPD CrossFit a little more than a year ago to help his fellow officers deal with the stress that comes along with police work. Athena Perez is a Transformation Life Coach and CrossFit L1 trainer who's new book is entitled Lifting the Wait. It chronicles her abusive and traumatic childhood, the unhealthy relationship with food that resulted from it, and how she came to weigh 500 pounds. Athena found CrossFit in 2017 and immediately started turning her life around. Since then she has lost 225 pounds, earned her L1 Certificate and is planning on opening her own affiliate.

Honorable Judge Gerald Parker was elected to the Common Pleas Court Bench, General Division, in November of 2018, taking office in early January of 2019. He is the first African-American male judge to hold that position. He serves on the Offender Supervision and Security Committee as well. Judge Parker is also a CrossFitter and has helped put together a program along with Centerville CrossFit that introduces kids on probation to fitness.

After a number of small-scale fundraising events in 2015-2016, Battle Cancer was born in 2017 with its first competition held in Manchester, UK. Last year saw the Battle Cancer movement grow into six events across Europe plus a Battle Tour of LA. To date, they've raised over £500,000 for almost 40 cancer charities worldwide helped by nearly 5,000 athletes.
