POT, TRUCKERS & THE NEW T680E. There is a new rise in drug screen failures and refusals. The September statistics are out and there is over a 9 percent increase in truck driver drug failures. With the increased amount of unemployed truck drivers, it is possible that some are turning to drugs for comfort. Even more alarming are the number of drivers that have not started the RTD (return To Duty) process. Approximately 78% of the drivers that have failed, have not started their RTD. This could be a huge number of drivers that are seeking another career. With the large driver shortage in the industry, this is sure to have a negative impact on the entire hiring process. The new Kenworth T680E is set to go on production in 2021. The new Eletric semi truck with come in mostly day cabs. The truck will have a range of 150 miles. Kenworth is and has always been an innovator when it comes to moving forward into the future. We are excited to see where this new concept will end up. The new Kenworth is just the right truck for those that have a fully green fleet in mind. TalkCDL is looking for new people to interview. Ice Road Truckers Star to serve house arrest Art Burke, the Ice Road Truckers star has run into a little trouble with the law. Burke was charged in connection with a fire at an apartment building in Yellowknife in Canda’s Northwest Territories. The fire occurred in November of 2018 when Burke was trying to make a concentrated form of cannabis called “shatter,” according to reports by the CBC. A TRUCKERS STORY OF CHILD ABUSE. Meet Rodney Timms, the founder of Western Flyer Express. Rodney founded the company along with his son in 1996 but that is not what this story is about. Success means nothing when you have a monster hanging over your head. Rodney would trade everything he has to change what he went through as a child. You see, Rodney is a victim of child abuse. Looking at Rodney's recent past concerning what he has accomplished along with his faith, you wouldn't suspect the nightmare he lived through but in fact he did. This is his story and TalkCDL sat down with him to tell his story. Rodney Timms Western Flyer Express and child abuse victim Child abuse is more prevalent than most realize It’s estimated that at least 1 in 7 children in the US has experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year. Neglect is the most common form of child abuse, followed by physical abuse, sexual abuse, and psychological abuse. In 2018, 76% of child abuse perpetrators were a parent to their victim. In 2018, 62% of children placed in foster care were removed from their homes due to abusive neglect, totalling over 160,000 children. Children who experienced any form of violence in childhood have a 13% greater likelihood of not graduating from high school. Adult survivors of childhood abuse are more likely to experience mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. ROCKS THROWN FROM BRIDGES & KW TRUCKS. It's happening again, rocks and other objects are being thrown from over passes. Truck drivers recently have reported being attacked by people throwing objects at moving vehicles including semi trucks and all automobiles. No suspect have been named as of yet but being the incidents have happened on numerous interstates, mainly in the southeastern part if the US, police and other law enforcement's are hot on the trail and are hoping for an arrest soon. IFDA'S TRUCKER RODEO AT DISNEY ORLANDO. International Foodservice Distributors http://www.ifdaonline.org is an organization compiled of many food distributing carriers. We sat down with Mark Allen the president and CEO of IFDA for a few minutes. IFDA has their very own "Truckers Hall of Fame". In order to be inducted into the HOF a truck driver must have a minimum of 25 years working for a IFDA (s) carrier (s). The driver must not have a moving violation for the past 5 years and be accident free for the past 25 years. This narrows the field but as Mark said "brings out the best of the best". The rodeo Epcot Each year IFDA sponsors a truck driver rodeo at Epcot in Orlando Fl. Each carrier nominates their best driver and the competition begins. The rodeo shows off truck driver skills from backing to tight maneuvering. Semi-Truck Robbers Aug 24, 2020

Semi-Truck Robbers. In the year 2015 a semi-truck loaded with gold bars was robbed of it cargo in North Carolina. The crooks thought they had gotten away with the perfect crime. They planned stop the truck and rob the drivers of their freight. Over four million dollars in gold was stolen that day and it would take over a year to solve the crime. In the end it was the same old story, a friend turned them in. It never fails, just when you think you have gotten away with something, someone turns you in. The thieves had planned on tracking the semi-truck with a tracking device the leader of the gang had ordered online. They had also planned on setting up a tear gas dispenser inside the cab of the tractor-trailer. The plan actually worked. The crooks were able to zip tie the drivers up and place them in near by woods. They quickly broke the seal to the trailer and made off with the loot. This past April set an all time record with 83, 000 truckers losing their jobs. Mix in a tariff war, riots and the corona virus and you have a recipe for disaster. The trucking industry is no stranger to bad times but these times may be worse than we have seen in a long time. With the addition of a federal boost on top of unemployment compensation it looks like it may be a while till truckers return to wok. Most truck drivers are collecting as much if not more money than they earn on the road. Think about it for s second. If a truck driver can make over a thousand dollars a week clear by sitting at home instead of working for about the same total, he would be crazy to leave home for weeks at a time for less money and not seeing his family. The government was recently quoted as saying "they realize that the federal boost they have been giving workers, may be an incentive Not to Return to work (Duh).

Truckers Hall of Fame. Truck drivers now have a place they can strive to be a part of. A part of History if you will. A truck driver can now make it into the Truckers Hall of Fame. Recently we picked up on a story that covered a driver making it into the IFDA (International Food Distributors Association) Hall of Fame. In order to qualify, a driver must have 25 verified years behind the wheel of a big rig. Must have been part of a qualified trucking company that is part of IFDA and have all safe driving miles. Truckers Hall of Fame Strangers training others wives Many women attempting to get their CDL are running into road blocks. One of those roadblocks are their very own husbands. In most cases a female trainee is faced with the fact that most carriers are limited on their female trainers. In most cases a women will have to be trained by a man and most likely a man she does not know. Husbands are faced with allowing they're wives to be alone sleeping and partnered up with a man they will never trust. Two to three weeks out on the road night after night with the opposite sex is too much for most husbands and thats where it ends before it starts. One little trick which can happen is this. If a male driver starts ahead of his wife as a driver at. a particular company, does through the "train the trainer" program. He then has a better chance at being his spouses trainer.
