In this episode, Gerritt shares a cringe-inducing story about his romantic experience. And he said that what he did was not the proper way to go about it. The same is applicable in business. Gerritt says the fact that most people don’t know who you are and what you do, so they have no idea if they are willing to do business with you. When you try to close them on your first phone call, then odds are they will probably hang up. Gerritt says to think of business the same as building a long-term relationship.

Belief is a powerful tool. In this episode, Gerritt talks about leveraging your beliefs. Even if you say you are going to reach the pinnacle of success, it is all for naught if you don’t believe it. Gerritt poses a challenge; start to think about what you’re going, and put yourself in a position to believe you will get there. Your beliefs will dictate the actions that you take to generate the results that you are after. Gerritt says that it sounds simple, but is hard to execute. Observe how your actions change with your beliefs.

In this episode, Gerritt gives three difficult questions to ask yourself to give you clarity. Ask yourself who are you serving. You enter into business proclaiming that you are for everybody when you are in fact not. Another question to ask, where will you take those you serve. Both of you want results, but what results are you going to get them? And finally, ask how you are going to get them there. Be the vehicle for your client’s success. Gerritt says that answering them earlier is better to give yourself a sense of direction.

In today`s episode, Gerritt tells us how to prevent getting taken advantage of. He outlines the difference between facts and feelings. People primarily focus on emotions, but there is a cost. Concentrating on facts will take you to your real destination while feelings will always lead you somewhere you should probably not be going. Gerritt says that when you act on feelings, then you need to find out the facts. Confront the person who irritated you and find out why, that way you will operate out of real information and not out of mere feelings and guesswork.

Gerritt alludes that in hurrying to finish many things all at once, you then get nothing done. Gerritt explains that if the things you are doing aren’t taking you where you want to go, odds are you probably shouldn’t be doing them. If you ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” you will see that the tasks you thought were important, really are not.

Gerritt encourages everyone to avoid getting distracted by expectations and focus on getting there instead.
