    S2 Ep35: Chapter 32 | The Olympics. That's It. That's The Title. with Kim & Kara Aug 07, 2024
Show notes If covering as many topics in one episode as possible were an Olympic sport, Kim and Kara would be taking home the gold. This week, the ladies offer a broad range (not surprising) including the Olympics, updated title IX regulations, Eminem's new album, hyper fixation hobbies, and the concept of "trad wives".
Kim and Kara discuss their experiences watching the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, seeing a diverse array of athletes' bodies, and the importance of self-acceptance. Fangirling over US Rugby star, Ilona Maher takes place which is very warranted.
Kim fully goes off while filling Kara in on the controversy surrounding a Dutch child rapist...who just happens to be participating in Olympic volleyball. They emphasize the need for accountability and support for survivors, as well as the importance of holding offenders responsible. (Since recording, this particular societal skid mark has been eliminated from the competition. Our international thanks to the Brazilian volleyball team for their service.)
"The Dutch Olympic committee said Van de Velde met the conditions to return to competition after a conviction and resumed his career in 2017. “Van de Velde now meets all the qualification requirements for the Olympic Games and is therefore part of the team,” the committee said."

They share their own experiences of feeling the need to mask in certain situations and the impact it has on their mental and emotional well-being. They also come back to the topic of forgiveness and how it is not a condition of faith or healing, but rather a result of it. The lede gets buried, but they conclude with a discussion about recent news events and the importance of recognizing the humanity of all individuals involved.

S2 Ep29: Chapter 26 | This Is Going To Ruin The Tour with Kim & Kara Jun 26, 2024
    Show notes What Tour?
K&K are back discussing Eminem, their admiration for the Paris Hilton renaissance, the upcoming anniversary of Kara's kidnapping, and the support they've received from their captive audience.
Diving straight into the deep pool of dark humor, Kara prepares to launch new merch following a series of unhinged texts from Kim, kicked off by this early 2000's Nike ad.
Consent conversations with their children highlight the importance of having open and age-appropriate conversations with kids about subjects like sexuality, pornography, and menstruation. Helpful videos from Planned Parenthood are referenced. They emphasize the need for ongoing communication and being a reliable source of information for their children, because as Kim says, "if they aren't hearing it from you, they're going to hear it from somewhere".
Both ladies touch on the importance of consent and the challenges of discussing their own experiences of sexual assault with their kids.

    S1 Ep26: Chapter 23 | The SANE Corner with Shaun Johnson Sep 20, 2023
Show notes It's our last episode of season 1! We will announce our season 2 date soon, but rest assured we will still be doing minisodes and having fun on Patreon during our break.
Kim and Kara catch up in the midst of travel and Kara shares what she's having! Much to Kim's chagrin, it is NOT a velociraptor.
Today's guest is forensic nurse Shaun Johnson. In an SGTC first, you all had the opportunity to submit questions ahead of our conversation. Listen as Shaun answers these and more.
Shaun Johnson is a dedicated registered nurse passionate about providing compassionate and patient-centered care to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, human tracking, and stalking. Shaun has been a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) since 2018.
Since becoming a SANE, Shaun has made significant contributions to the field of sexual assault care and advocacy in Maine. His role extends beyond conducting forensic examinations; he also plays a crucial part in educating his community and other healthcare professionals about sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and stalking prevention and the importance of a trauma-informed approach to care and services provided to survivors.
Shaun's career as a SANE began in Portland, Maine, where he worked as a registered nurse before specializing in forensic nursing. He developed exceptional clinical skills in assessing and treating victims of sexual assault while training colleagues, throughout the hospital, about the role and the services SANEs provide.
In late 2021, Shaun started The SANE Corner Instagram page to create a community and bring awareness and education to social media about forensic nursing.
His passion for providing specialized care to vulnerable populations led him to pursue an advanced degree, and is currently procuring a Master’s in Public Health. In addition, Shaun has a passion for breaking the stereotype that men can be SANEs and that more are needed in this field.
