SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 9 of Survivor Nicaragua Nov 12, 2010

Show notes

This week we interviewed Marty Piombo. He left the game in episode 9 of Survivor Nicaragua. Marty took control of Espada only to have it yanked away by a twist in the game. After the shuffle, Marty lost his majority vote and endured a long drawn out battle to survive each week. He will be remembered in Survivor history for two events: his courage to hold on to the HII in the face of imminent danger one week and his willingness to give it and any semblance of control of his future away the next. Listen to this audio interview to learn what Jane said early on that caused him to avoid an alliance with her, his response to her very personal attacks on his character, when he found out about Sash's betrayal, and lots more!

Nicaragua Episode 9 Nov 11, 2010

Show notes

Hey, maybe there are more than 3 people actually playing to win this season. Episode 9 showed us that there are other castaways besides Brenda, Sash, and Marty willing to take some risks and take action to improve their chances to win the million. Chase, Holly and Jane have an alliance as does Dan, Benry and Fabio. Do you think there's anything that NaOnka could do to the tribe that would get her voted out at this point? How do you think she would react if Brenda or Sash were criticizing her? What will Jane do now that she doesn't have Marty to focus all her energy on? Do you think Chase can survive without Brenda's support? What's your guess for the "big" surprise moment in episode 10?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 9. Libertad: Brenda, Benry, Chase, Dan, Holly, Jane, Jud, Kelly S, NaOnka and Sash

Jo Ann grudgingly predicted that Jane would be voted out next. Stacy thinks Chase will be the next to go. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

Nicaragua Episode 8 LF Nov 08, 2010

Show notes

Jane's bloodlust to vote out Marty and her willingness to show off in the challenge had many of you re-thinking her prospects in the game. It was also no surprise that very little if anything postivie was said about NaOnka. Another recurring theme is the question of how long can Sash and Brenda hold it together before turning on each other. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Eighteen shared their thoughts on episode 8 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. This week we heard from: John, Tyler, Kathy, Elizabeth, Lil' Russ, Jeremiah, Jennifer, Eric, Drew, Crystal, Troy, Jen, Ian, Lianne, DeeDee, Luke, Paul and Mikeybear.

SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 8 of Survivor Nicaragua Nov 05, 2010

Show notes

This week we interviewed Alina Wilson. She left the game in episode 8 of Survivor Nicaragua. It certinaly does not pay to be a castaway and a fan of Survivor this season. Alina is the third fan in a row to be elimnated from the game. Despite being a target for elimination since episode 2, she was able to hang in there and keep fighting and strategizing all the way to day 22. Listen to this audio interview to learn who drank too much Rum at the merge feast, why Benry called her a dirt squirrel, who she would like to see win and lots more!

Nicaragua Episode 8 Nov 04, 2010

Show notes

Yay, the merge is here! Now we transition into the second, more complicated phase of the game. The consequence of actions carries greater weight. Each remaining castaway has to be prepared to convince everyone that gets voted out that they deserve a million dollars. It also brings with it the opportunity to overthrow previous alliances. Anyone that isn't in the top tier of an alliance could flip and better their standing in the game. Every tribal council that consists of an odd number of votes opens the door for the "swing vote". Someone on the outside or at the bottom of an alliance can break the tie vote and dramatically change their future. Do you think Brenda, Sash and NaOnka have a lock on final 3 at this point? Who's their biggest threat and most likely to challenge them in the next episode? Who do you think is most likely to flip the game on its head? How would you have responded to NaOnka and Alina's admission to stealing from the tribe? How do you compare what they did to Jane or Holly's previous actions? Who from the original Espada tribe stands a chance to make it to final 5? Who do you think will get voted out first: NaOnka or Fabio?

Here is the new, merged tribe after episode 8. Libertad: Brenda, Benry, Chase, Dan, Holly, Jane, Jud, Kelly S, Marty, NaOnka and Sash

Jo Ann and Stacy both think Marty will be the next to go. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

Nicaragua Episode 7 LF Nov 01, 2010

Show notes

Marty's actions managed to divide us again. Some thought his choice to hand over the immunity idol made perfect sense, and others didn't hesitate to compare him to the famous ice cream scooper from Hell, Michigan. As expected Purple Kelly's first confessional was a resounding hit, enjoyed by one and all. Judd and NaOnka continued to polarize the fans, but most everyone supported Jane's private feast. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 7 of Survivor Nicaragua Oct 29, 2010

Show notes

This week we interviewed Jill Behm. She left the game in episode 7 of Survivor Nicaragua. Jill is the prototype for the hard core Survivor fan that gets a chance to be on the show. Her preparation was impeccable, and she established a great alliance that was in control until an unfortunate turn in the game left her with little chance to make it to the merge much less final tribal council. Listen to this audio interview to learn how her family helped her prepare for the show, her perspective on hoarding food, additional insights on the "La Flor kids" and lots more!

Nicaragua Episode 7 Oct 28, 2010

Show notes

This season hasn't really followed any of the typical patterns. So, it was kind of nice to get back to a normal 3 day cycle along with a separate reward and immunity challenge. That did not mean it was boring though. Would you risk a private meal the way Jane did? Do you think it was fair for her to eat a fish by herself? The merge is coming. Do you think we will see a shift in power, or will the old La Flor tribe regroup for a predictable finish? Why do you think Marty gave up the HII? Can you see any scenario where that works to his advantage? Do you think there is any chance that Sash will actually keep his word and give it back? Will Sash's slip in tribal council come back to haunt him? Will NaOnka pay the price for stealing food from the merge feast?

Here are the tribes after episode 7. New La Flor: Brenda, Jane, Jud, Kelly S, Marty and Sash New Espada: Alina, Benry, Chase, Dan, Holly and NaOnka

Jo Ann thinks Marty will be the post merge target. Stacy thinks that NaOnka will be looking to finish off Alina. Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

Nicaragua Episode 6 LF Oct 25, 2010

Show notes

Double elminations are a necessity when they start with 20 castaways instead of the original 16. This one came with a twist, the rare tie vote at Tribal Council. Some of you found logic in the decision to take out Kelly B over Marty, many others were not conviced. A lot of us remained quite stumped by that vote. Holly was recognized for her performance and many called this the best episode of the season to date. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 6 of Survivor Nicaragua Oct 22, 2010

This week we interviewed Yve Rojas. She left the game in episode 6 of Survivor Nicaragua. It's always hard to lose a castaway that's also a true Survivor fan, especially this early in the season. Yve didn't get a lot of air time, so it was nice to be able to speak with her and glean some additional details from her experience. Note: Unfortunately, Kelly Bruno was unavailable to interview. It's not clear at this point if we will have an opportunity to talk with her. Listen to this audio interview to learn about the solid alliance Yve established from day one, details on the post shuffle mistake that cost her the game, status updates on two of the most volatile castaways and lots more!
