Wonder Woman: Dead Earth Review | DC Black Label’s Post-Apocalyptic Masterpiece Oct 02, 2025
    Show notes

In this episode, we dive deep into Wonder Woman: Dead Earth, one of DC Black Label’s most brutal and emotionally gripping comics. Written and illustrated by Daniel Warren Johnson, this post-apocalyptic Wonder Woman story pushes Diana to her limits like never before. We review the plot, characters, twists, artwork, and darker tone of this four-part series. From Wonder Woman awakening to a ravaged “Dead Earth” to her desperate fight for humanity alongside a group of survivors, this story redefines Diana in a bleak but powerful way. Johnson’s unique artwork and storytelling style perfectly capture the mix of tragedy, brutality, and hope that makes this book unforgettable. Joining me for this review is special guest Loren from Coffee & Lore, who brings her own perspective and insight into the story’s themes and emotional weight. Together, we break down what makes Wonder Woman: Dead Earth one of the most unique DC Black Label comics and why fans of Wonder Woman, DC Comics, and post-apocalyptic storytelling should not miss it.

Peacemaker Season 2 Ep.6 Review | The BEST Episode Yet? Sep 27, 2025
    Show notes

We’re back with our full Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 review—and this is the episode we’ve been waiting for! Titled “Ignorance Is Chris,” this chapter delivers big surprises, sharp pacing, and one of the most chilling alternate earth reveals in the entire DCU. Add in the perfectly executed Lex Luthor cameo, and we might finally be seeing Peacemaker Season 2 hit its stride. But before diving into the review, we kick things off with a cold open about superhero video games. We discuss the upcoming Insomniac Wolverine game (featuring villains like Omega Red and Sentinels), WB/DC’s lack of strong video game titles, the cancellation of the Wonder Woman game, and our hopes for a truly great Superman game one day. Then it’s on to Peacemaker 2x06! We break down the best scenes, action, and character moments while pointing out the season’s ongoing flaws—like the overly short runtimes and pacing issues that could’ve been fixed by combining earlier episodes. Still, if Episodes 7 and 8 can match the quality of Episode 6, Peacemaker Season 2 could finish strong.

Gen V Season 2 Review (Eps 1-4) | Hits, Misses & The Future of The Boys Universe Sep 26, 2025
    Show notes

We’re breaking down the first four episodes of Gen V Season 2, the bloody, outrageous spinoff of The Boys! In this spoiler-filled review, we cover everything from the best moments, shocking scenes, and standout performances to the frustrating weaknesses that are starting to drag down the live-action Boys universe. Before jumping into Gen V, we start with a cold open discussing James Gunn’s DCU Gods & Monsters slate, including major changes to projects like The Authority and Swamp Thing, and the reveal that Brainiac will be the villain in Man of Tomorrow. We also react to the new casting of Tombstone in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and cover the unfortunate on-set injuries involving Tom Holland and stunt workers. Then we dive deep into Gen V Season 2 Episodes 1-4. We talk about what works—Emma, Cipher, and Polarity’s character arcs, the pacing, and the intriguing central mystery—and what doesn’t, like lazy political satire, plot holes, and lack of meaningful development for some characters. We also reflect on the passing of Chance Perdomo and how it impacted the direction of the season. Overall, Gen V Season 2 has us cautiously optimistic, and we’re hoping the back half sticks the landing.

Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 5 Review | Back to the Suture Breakdown & Theories Sep 20, 2025
    Show notes

We’re back with our full review of Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 5, “Back to the Suture.” In this podcast, we break down the latest entry in James Gunn’s hit DC series, discussing the episode’s biggest moments, character developments, and where the story might be heading next. Before diving into the episode, we kick things off with a cold open covering the 2025 Emmy Awards—including wins for Severance, The Penguin, The Pitt, and Andor. From there, we get into the heart of Episode 5. While “Back to the Suture” is fun and packed with Peacemaker’s signature humor, it doesn’t move the overall story forward as much as we’d like. With Episodes 4 and 5 running shorter than usual, it feels like these two installments could’ve been combined into one stronger chapter. We discuss ARGUS’s bizarre decision to release Peacemaker after a shady interrogation, the confusing fate of Red St. Wild at the talons of Eagly, and Chris Smith’s shocking choice to live in the alternate Earth. Plus, we theorize on what’s next for Emilia Harcourt, Vigilante, and the rest of our favorite misfits as the season heads toward its final three episodes.

Stephen King’s The Long Walk Review | Ending Explained & Full Breakdown Sep 18, 2025
    Show notes

We’re diving deep into The Long Walk—the chilling new Stephen King adaptation! In this episode, we deliver both a spoiler-free review and a spoiler-filled breakdown of the film. We discuss the movie’s atmosphere, pacing, tone, and character-driven story, praising its gripping performances and haunting narrative. While The Long Walk succeeds in immersing us in a bleak and gruesome journey, the ending left us feeling unsatisfied. Before we get into the review, we open with a 20-minute cold discussion on the 2027 Superman movie Man of Tomorrow. We explore theories about Superman teaming up with Lex Luthor against a major threat—possibly Brainiac—and what this could mean for the future of the DCU. In the spoiler section, we break down The Long Walk scene by scene, covering the most intense moments, shocking deaths, and our favorite performances. We also compare the film’s grim and ambiguous ending to other dark stories like No Country For Old Men, The Devil All The Time, and Joker (2019). If you’re a Stephen King fan, a movie buff, or just love dark, thought-provoking storytelling, this is the review for you!

Before diving into Peacemaker, we open the episode with a discussion on WrestleMania heading to Saudi Arabia in 2027, the dangers of rising ticket prices, and the brand-new promotional image of Doctor Doom from Avengers: Doomsday. From the character development to the pacing, humor, and the awesome Peacemaker vs. Judomaster fight scene, Episode 4 proves to be an important setup for what’s coming in Episode 5.
