RLRx: The Protein Megalin May More Important Than SHBG When It Comes To Sex Steroid Uptake By Tissue Oct 09, 2019
    Show notes

SHR # 2410 :: RLRx: The Protein Megalin May More Important Than SHBG When It Comes To Sex Steroid Uptake By Tissue : Ronnie Milo - The medical orthodoxy has promoted the idea that sex steroids bound to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) are biologically inactive. Free, unbound hormones are though to have biological significance. Some evidence that hormones like testosterone, bound ti SHBG, appear to have effects on tissue. Now the mechanism responsible for bound sex hormones to produce biological activity in a variety of tissue has been identified. Lrp2 also known as Magalin may actually flip the free-androgen theory on its head and show that the medical orthodoxy has had it exactly opposite of the way it really works! AND Lrp2 has these same effects on vitamin D3 and A and may be at the root of why some people don't see the benefits of supplementation.

Why is it that some people can do hours of cardio every week yet their resting heart rate doesn't get lower? SHR # 2405 :: RLRx: An Unusual Trigger of Over-training plus Obstructive Sleep Apnea Doesn't Lower Testosterone plus Adolescence and the Onset of Anxiety : Ronnie Milo - What if your training isn't what causes you to be over-trained? And does this put women at greater risk? PLUS For years people have said obstructive sleep apnea causes lowered testosterone. This study says not. But it does cause a change in a hormone that is worrisome. PLUS Anxiety generally begins in adolescence and for some stays around through adulthood. Show notes

SHR # 2403 :: Doves, Diplomats And Diabetes: A Darwinian Interpretation Of Type 2 Diabetes And Related Disorders : Dr. Milind Watve - Dr. Watve's discussion about the evolutionary pressures that are effecting obesity, insulin resistance and other associated diseases is as outside-the-box as one can imagine. Imagine that our body's response to the lack of aggression, risk and fear are causing us to respond differently. This response makes us prone to fat accumulation. And exercise protocols that reintroduce the risk and fear components that we evolved under can actually be part of the prescription to change the outcome of disease! This is a must-hear game-changing interview.
