    Sully Baseball

Love baseball? Need a daily fix of talking baseball? Comedian and TV producer Paul Francis Sullivan (call him Sully) posts an original podcast every single day, 365 days a year unless it is a leap year and then he is going to do another one. Throughout the season, playoffs and off season, Sully makes his observations, voices his opinions and brings on guests like former major league players and writers and actors, including Joe Mantegna. Agree with him or not, there is always thoughtful, funny and passionate baseball talk every single day since October 24, 2012. Sully has been a producer on TV shows such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Ax Men and has appeared on ESPN2 and HBO Sports to talk baseball.

Ep. 1565 - Frank Robinson and the Big Red Machine - 2-4-2017 Feb 04, 2017
    Show notes

One of the most intriguing "What Ifs" in baseball history is the question "What if the Reds did NOT trade Frank Robinson to Cincinnati?" Truth be told, while it was a HORRIBLE trade for the Reds, it is hard to see them having a BETTER decade in the 1970's with him as they had without him.

Ep. 1564 - Baseball Nostalgia and the Star Wars Prequels - 2-3-2017 Feb 03, 2017
    Show notes

For some reason, my kids love the Star Wars prequels. But my being incredulous to liking The Phantom Menace et al made me realize I was doing what I hate when I hear it from baseball fans: I was discounting what they loved based on MY Nostalgia.

    Ep. 1563 - The Brunansky Catch And Modern Baseball Technology - 2 - 2-2007 Feb 03, 2017
    Show notes

Tom Brunansky made a great catch to clinch the 1990 AL East Division for the Red Sox. I remembered looking for a place in New York to watch the game. And comedian Mike Donovan recorded the catch on video. Today those two actions would be taken for granted. In 1990, they took determination to do.

    Ep. 1562 - The A's Need A Stadium That Matches Their Innovation - 2 - 1-2017 Feb 01, 2017
    Show notes

The A's in Oakland have a history of innovation on and off the field. Their new stadium should reflect that. And Las Vegas should rig a few games to make sure the Raiders move out to give the A's room to build their park.

Ep. 1561 - The WBC and Bringing in the Best to America - 1-31-2017 Jan 31, 2017
    Show notes

The World Baseball Classic is going on again this year. I am not a big fan of it, but it SHOULD be a gateway to bring the best and most talented from all over the world to compete on the American stage.

    Ep. 1560 - The Historical Agony Of The Astros - 1-30-2017 Jan 30, 2017
    Show notes

The Houston Astros must be considered one of the most tortured fan bases in baseball. A closer examination at their post season past shows a huge number of games that could have been theirs with a bounce here or there.

Ep. 1559 - SUNDAY REQUEST - Who is the best hitter of this generation? 1-29-2017 Jan 29, 2017
    Show notes

SUNDAY REQUEST - @thestartingbloc wonders who is the best hitter of this generation: Cabrera or Pujols.

    Ep. 1558 - The Padres Need 35,000 Fans A Day To Have Fun - 1 - 28 - 2017 Jan 28, 2017
    Show notes

The San Diego Padres can be a unique fan base if 35,000 people can show up to PetCo Park a day. Why not? It is a fun time at the ball game!

    Ep. 1557 - The Fragile Legacy Of Rich Gossage - 1 - 27 - 2017 Jan 28, 2017
    Show notes

Rich Gossage is one of the greatest relievers of all time. But he almost became an All Star workhouse starter. Why? Because he was one.

    Ep. 1556 - The Strange Legacy of the 2007 Red Sox - 1-26-2017 Jan 26, 2017
    Show notes

It is the 10 year anniversary of the Red Sox second championship this century. The legacy of the team is not a cute and cuddly one.
