Romance is par for the course, but the movie is surprisingly quite critical. Jane Wyman plays Cary Scott, a wealthy widow who falls for her arborist Ron Kirby, played by the handsome Rock Hudson. Her friends and family basically shame her not just for picking a younger man, but one who is also beneath her station (despite the fact that he owns his own business and has land). We look at the 1954 film that inspired Indiana Jones and it is....a drag. It's a boring film without a semblance of adventure. The menswear on the other hand is pretty good! Better get your ties on, because it's time to talk about Gangster Squad. Spencer and Ethan discuss the campy 2013 film about how a group of cops took down Mickey Cohen and his gang back in 1949. Costumed by Mary Zophres, the style of the film is interesting; there are period accurate double breasted suits and ties, but a few liberties with the lapels and shirt collars. It's almost as much a throw back to the gangster films of the 90s as it is a send up of the ones from the 40s and 50s.
