12: Episode 55 - Ramblings & The new Spanish kid May 11, 2020

Show notes

A new week, still very much in lockdown. There's constant talk about the Premier League making a return and people are debating endlessly about whether it's safe or not. Some of it doesn't even make sense.
Anyhow, we have something different on the podcast this week. Stretty News columnist Paul Rowles joins us to discuss his latest Ramblings. We discuss whether there is a need to sign a centre-back this summer, if Ferguson actually contributed to United's fall from grace, and Louis van Gaal taking some responsibility.
That is followed by a quick chat with Barcelona fan Navid Molaaghaei about La Masia's latest star Marc Jurado, who is about to join Manchester United! Patreons can watch that interview in full (video) via patreon.com/strettynews. Your support is what helps us grow.

11: Episode 54 - Marcos Rojo's Corona Poker Classic May 07, 2020

Show notes

This week Dale and Mike discuss a lot of politics as well as Marcos Rojo breaking lockdown rules and enjoying a smoke with friends in Argentina. We also take a look at the United trinity or, as Mike says, Manchester United's very own Led Zeppelin. George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton in the same team was something special. The Strettycast wants your all-time Manchester United XI - but take the instructions on board from this podcast. There must be a reason for your choices - not just the best player in each position to have played for the club. Send your XIs via Twitter to @Strettycast and we'll read some of them out on next Thursday's show.

9: Episode 52 - Alex Stepney Apr 30, 2020

Show notes

This is an interview that we are very proud of, and we've had to do it using FaceTime rather than face-to-face due to the current situation in the world with COVID-19. However, it was an absolute pleasure to have a chat with former Manchester United goalkeeper Alex Stepney on Thursday morning. We talk about his introduction to football (being told he wouldn't make it) and becoming a European Cup winner in 1968, being part of the first English team to do so and beating a Eusebio-driven Benfica side. That was an incredible dressing room to be part of under the guidance of Sir Matt Busby and Jimmy Murphy. Alex is very open, easy to talk to and we are thrilled he took some time out of his day to chat to us. I hope you enjoy it.

8: Sir Alex Ferguson voted greatest British manager [BBC] - Chat with author Pete Molyneux Apr 27, 2020

Show notes

The BBC ran a poll asking readers to vote for the best British football manager. It comes as no surprise that Sir Alex Ferguson won it but how on earth did Sir Matt Busby only got 1% of the votes -- the same as Kenny Dalglish!
A special thanks to Pete Molyneux for joining me for today's chat. He has been going to games in 1964 and is always interesting to listen to.
