SSFP Episode #67 | Yell About Doom RPG All You Want May 05, 2022

Show notes

Hello again, Skela-Family!

Well here we are, deep in the Summer of Morbius, yet we still managed to have a video game podcast! We keep the obligatory Elden Ring talk to a minimum (though not Tunic, sorry listeners that keep asking us about it, we'll get to it eventually!!), before some how having an extended plant conversation involve Jared Leto, Grace's plants, and 70's synth wave albums. That Jared Leto Energy For Your Plants!

We also have an update on the next Doom ports video, which was voted on by Patreon supporters! We've decided to split the video and give the entire Doom RPG "series" it's own spot! It's an interesting series of games because there's technically 5 of them, Carmack himself had hands on all of them, and they've never been rereleased! And then a few questions to close out.

We'll be back with another episode recorded on May 16th. You can chat along with us live in the Discord if you support SSFF on Patreon! Otherwise stay powerful out there and we'll see you again real soon! Uncle Derek

SSFP Episode #66 | Give Her The Egg!! Apr 27, 2022

Show notes

Hey Skele-fam!

We're back with another piping hot, fresh podcast. We're a little off schedule, we had to skip last week but we're back! And we'll have another episode next week, meaning back to back SSFP! What more could you ever possibly want??

In this episode, Grace finally made Derek watch High School Musical (something she'd been trying to do for a really long time). Also Elon Musk is buying twitter, but we were too busying researching Doom and Quake ports on early 2000's PDAs to really pay close attention! Also, it's probably not a good thing that Elon Musk is buying twitter, but anyway... Play Dates are starting to ship! Does this mean we're starting a new pocket gaming era like the late-90's and early 2000's? Well, with Nintendo allegedly bringing GBA games to Switch Online, we could see something like that. Plus your questions!

That's it for now, but we'll see you next week! Stay powerful!

SSFP Episode #65 | Bring Back M.A.G., You Cowards! Apr 10, 2022

Show notes

Hello Skele-fam!

Well, Sony is doing a GamePass, but it's quite different from actual GamePass. It's something that's been rumored for a long while and it's not really the best sell. Not having new games day-one is not great. Their best pitch is the promise of a gigantic library of classic games. It could be good, but it would need to do really impressive things with those old games. Like bring back PS3 multiplayer games! Bring back M.A.G. and you've got me on board, day one!

But before all that we have a brief talk about our little dog Dollop, aka the Ten-Pound Terrorist. After the Relatable Pet Owner Talk, we discuss the possibly improving state of Elden Ring messages, the timelessness of Burnout 3, and the show Our Flag Means Death. Oh and remember GameRoom on Xbox 360? Then questions!!

We'll be back with another episode on the 25th! We'll be missing our regularly scheduled 3rd Monday, but this means they'll be back-to-back episodes!

Until then, stay powerful!

SSFP Episode #64 | Fellowship of the Bling Mar 22, 2022

Show notes

Hello again, skele-fam!

We made it to episode 64 if you can believe it!

This episode starts with a brief PLANT UPDATE from Plant Mommy Grace, which I know you were all dying for. Of course Elden Ring is still getting many hours of play here at SSFF HQ, but Grace has really taken to it! She's been able to play it mainly because Uncle Derek was able to get a PVM monitor from a friend and finally play light gun games again! After straining his arm with several hours of Point Blank and Virtua Cop, he started messing with RPG Maker VX. And Grace still has dreams of making a video about the Game Bike peripheral. Then it's on to questions!

So 64 episodes now! This podcast started as a Patreon exclusive thing but we decided to make it public a little over a year ago. So far we've been keeping it fast and loose, just rambling conversation between the two of us. But would people prefer something more structured? Maybe discuss game news a little more? Or have fun segments with little intro songs? Or is the ramble what you crave? We're fine with either! But let us know what you'd like to hear!

Next episode will be April 4th. Again, SSFP is a free podcast for all, but if you'd like to chat with us during the recording, please join our Patreon!

See you next time, stay powerful!

SSFP Episode #63 | Horse Tech Predictions Mar 09, 2022

Show notes

Hey Skele-fam!

Well, it turns out our Elden Ring concerns from the last episode were completely unfounded because I'm not sure if you've heard... but Elden Ring is pretty damn good! That's basically all Derek has been playing since it came out! And it brought up an interesting question - is it a deal breaker when a game gets complicated enough that you need to start making charts and journals? For Grace it really depends on the game.

But this isn't just an Oops All Elden Ring episode, we finally finished and released the Zeebo Past Mortem! So we discuss a little bit of behind-the-scenes with that, and then talk about what's next for SSFF! Plus new Doom videos incoming by way of a Patreon Poll! And then lots of your questions!

We'll be back with another episode March 21st! Patreon supporters get to chat live as we record but the finished episodes are free for everyone! Hope to see you in the chat, but either way until next time stay powerful!

SSFP Episode #62 | Super 2/22/22'sday Feb 24, 2022

Show notes

Hello Skelefamily!!

Sorry for the late posting (again). Actually, the posting is on time but the recording was not. We had to pushback the recording a day (for reasons we discuss) but that meant this was recorded on 2/22/2022! Which is significant... right?

But in this episode Capcom's big countdown reveal and Street Fighter 6's dumb logo got your two favorite youtube bonehead's thinking about Capcom's output over the last few years. Also, will Elden Ring be the moment FromSoft and the Souls games have a backlash? Probably not. And this was recorded right before reviews went live so... yeah probably not! Also a Dead by Daylight dating sim??

Plus some questions about voice over recording for our videos, our all time favorite games of all time (for all time), and we argue, in front of you all, about making a video about Death Crimson.

We'll be back on March 7th with another episode! If you want to join us live during the recording plus chat with us before and after, support us on Patreon! Until then, stay frosty and powerful!

SSFP will be recording its next episode Feb 22nd. If you are a Patreon supporter you can chat along live and participate in our pre and post show talks. SSFP Episode #60 | It's Always Coffee-O'clock Somewhere Jan 18, 2022

Show notes

Hello Skelefamily!

This episode is a questions bonanza! We've been getting more and more questions lately and Grace and I have always talked about doing a (mostly) all Q&A podcast episode. So this is it! However, because I tend to ramble, we *still* didn't get to everyone's questions! But we talk about what else we'd be doing if we weren't #contentcreators, cheese nip slips, some history about the channel, childhood gaming memories and more.

Also, it turns out Grace did not lose the toothpaste, she just left it in the car.

By the way, this was recorded the day before the news about Microsoft's plans to buy Activision. Which is such an insane story! So this is the perfect podcast if you wanted to get away from that story for a bit! Anyway, we'll be back February 7th for another episode! So until then stay powerful!

SSFP Episode #59 | The Best Dragon Boi Jan 04, 2022

Show notes

Welcome to 2022!

Happy new year and happy new Stop Skeletons From Podcasting! We can't say for sure how 2022 is going to go but we will get to episode 69 this year, which that's gotta count for something!

This is our also first episode back since we switched up our Patreon, which has been a really incredible experience. Thanks to all our new supporters!

In this episode, expect vamping about hookers, boasts about not driving in snow, round faces that do magic, Grace's "whole snuggle system", and her new strategy RPG obsession, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Also is Earthbound completely obsolete now? And is that actually a good thing?

Of course we had plenty of questions from yall, but we have a few MORE questions than usual! Again, welcome all our new supporters! We'll be back again on the 17th for another recording, hope to see you there in the Discord chat!

Stay powerful! Uncle Derek

SSFP Episode #58 | Oops, All Goku's! Dec 21, 2021

Show notes

Hello Skele-fam!

Welcome to the final SSFP of the year! And we wrap this year with an announcement that we are making a huge change to our Patreon, and with it, our financial situation. We recorded this just after posting a vlog explaining our situation, so watch that if you need to get caught up. The TL;DW is, if you like our videos or our podcast, please consider supporting our Patreon, just $1 a month gets you all the special benefits and it helps us stay financially stable so we can keep making videos and podcasts!

But after the housekeeping talk, we get to Advance Wars, Grace's childhood crush on Vegeta, and that one JRPG about a dragon boy on an island? You know the one!

We'll be back next year with more podcasts (and videos!!) so we wish you all a safe and warm holidays! I say it every year and I'm usually wrong but I still say it anyway, next year is gonna kick ass! See you all in 2022!
