    Stay Through the Credits

We’re Dan and Julia, and we cannot watch a movie without arguing about it.

Stay Through the Credits is what happens when two people with very different taste share one couch (or one mic). One of us cries at everything. One of us says “it’s fine, it’s just a movie” and then thinks about it for three days. Guess which is which.

Every week we talk about the films and shows we can’t stop thinking about: the masterpieces, the guilty pleasures, the endings that ruined our night, and the hidden gems we’ll bully you into watching.

No film-school gatekeeping. No pretending we liked the boring one.

Cannes Day Two: Finally, Something Worth the Trip May 13, 2026
    Show notes

After a shaky start to the festival, Koji Fukada's Nagi Notes arrives like a deep breath. Two women, a barn, a camphorwood sculpture, and three runaway cows. We talk about why this quiet Competition entry might be the one to beat. Day two dispatch from the Croisette.

The Insect Jam Guy: Is Butterfly Jam Cannes' Weirdest Bet? May 13, 2026
    Show notes

Barry Keoghan feeds people bug jam, a pelican witnesses a coming of age, and Kantemir Balagov somehow makes all of it feel like a fairy tale. We dig into Butterfly Jam, the most unclassifiable film of Cannes so far, and ask the only question that matters: does the strangeness earn its keep?

Cannes Day Two: Pretty Pictures, Empty Waves May 13, 2026
    Show notes

The animation in In Waves is some of the most beautiful we've seen at Cannes this year. So why did we leave the theater feeling nothing? We talk gorgeous visuals, dying girl clichés, and what the film owed its subject but never delivered. Day two dispatch from the Croisette.

Cannes Day One: The Lights Are On But Nobody's Home May 12, 2026
    Show notes

We're live from the Croisette, and the festival opens with a whimper. Pierre Salvadori's The Electric Kiss has the cast, the premise, and the period charm - so why does it feel like so much wasted electricity? Our first dispatch from Cannes 2026.

    Must-Watch TV: Summer 2026 Preview May 10, 2026
    Show notes

HBO, Netflix, Apple TV+, and more are loading up the summer with prestige drama, sci-fi, and franchise returns. Here's what to put on your watchlist.

The Devil We Know Apr 29, 2026
    Show notes

Twenty years later, Meryl's back, the outfits are still good, and absolutely nothing has changed. Which is both the point and the problem.

Michael: The Biopic That Plays It Too Safe Apr 21, 2026
    Show notes

Michael turns one of pop’s most complicated icons into a glossy, carefully controlled highlight reel, with Jaafar Jacksondoing his best inside a story that refuses to go deeper. It looks the part and sounds great, but the truth is smoothed over so much it barely leaves an impact.

    Bones in a Barn Apr 14, 2026
    Show notes

We review David Lowery's Mother Mary, the A24 psychodrama starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel that somehow turns a fashion fitting into a séance. Strange, gorgeous, and unlike anything else in theaters right now.

The Auteurs Are Back Apr 09, 2026
    Show notes

Cannes 2026 ditched the blockbusters and went full cinephile. We break down the wildest, most exciting lineup in years. From Almodóvar's bitter Christmas to a samurai murder mystery, a gay virus thriller, and yes, John Travolta directing a movie.

Euphoria Season 3 Is Still High on Style, Low on Purpose Apr 09, 2026
    Show notes

Euphoria returns with Sam Levinson doubling down on mood and misery, but even Zendaya can’t save a season that feels stuck in place. What was once electric now drifts into repetition, leaving its characters spinning their wheels instead of growing up.
