In 1931, One of the worst medical experiments performed on human beings began.

This experiment continued for next 40 years.

The study targeted 623, predominantly poor, uneducated, African American men from rural Alabama.

These men were told that they were getting free health care.

They were not told that they would be the subjects of a barbaric human medical experiment.

Tuskegee Syphilis Study

In 1931, One of the worst medical experiments performed on human beings began.

This experiment continued for next 40 years.

The study targeted 623, predominantly poor, uneducated, African American men from rural Alabama.

These men were told that they were getting free health care.

They were not told that they would be the subjects of a barbaric human medical experiment.

Was a psychiatric that abused patients with cruel and unspeakable psychiatric treatments.

One of these treatments was the deadly 'Deep Sleep Therapy' as insituted by unethical and sadistic physician Harry Bailley.

This therapy led to the deaths of 24 patients.

When a little girl named Mary Ellen was abused, the courts would not help because there were no laws to prevent child abuse.

Thankfully, animal abuse laws existed.

The dedication of several kindhearted people saved Mary Ellen and led to the founding of The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
