David C. Roberson breaks down the latest news and Star Trek series with lifelong friend Matthew Carroll and introduces longtime friend Effie Ophelders to classic Trek for the very first time.
From Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy to The Original Series, The Next Generation, and everything in between, we explore the Star Trek universe one episode at a time!
Oh, maman... On this episode of Star Trek Universe, it’s a dash of racism,a sprinkling of imperialism, and a skosh of jingoism as Effie and I roll our eyes along to one of the absolute worst episodes of Star Trek ever produced – an episode so bad it was repeatedly rejected by the studio, from the beginning! We’re talking Roddenberry’s pet project, "The Omega Glory", maman! It ain't pretty.

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Matt and Dave are discussing the death of the Kelvinverse, Paramount's aborting of Simon Kinberg's Star Trek: Origin trilogy and the development of Goldstein and Daley's new supposedly unconnected Star Trek film! We're also talking about the canonicity of the podcast Star Trek: Khan, maman, as well as a tease about Captain Sisko for Starfleet Academy, and how Strange New Worlds is reigning it in for the wrap-up! All that and so much more, maman! It's wild. We even get into a spoilery section on Pluribus for those keeping up with that Apple TV series!

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and I encounter the most advanced multitronic unit of the 23rd century: Richard Daystrom’s prototype M-5 computer. Otherwise known as Dick “Defense-Ain’t-Murder” Daystrom’s Destruction Device. We’ll get into this catalyst for Kirk’s existentialist nightmare, maman, and maybe even explain how this could have been the perfect series finale.

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and I find ourselves in another earth-history contaminated culture as a matter of course. With Space Nazis, Space Jews and Patterns of Force.
We’ll get into John Gill and his misguided attempts at introducing Nazism with benign leadership in our review of Star Trek 2x23, "Patterns of Force".

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and I learn that sometimes it’s best to let Sargons be bygones - especially when you meet douche bags with big ball energy who like to call ya “son”! Hide your Muldaurs and hide your Spocks, maman! They're snatchin' everybody out here!
As we continue our rewatch/first-watch of The Original Series, we find ourselves face-to-face with LIGHTS IN BALLS... or rather, the now-non-corporeal entities who used to be humans millennia ago, desperate to make it back into human bodies -- but becoming human comes with weaknesses, maman! Sargon, this sounds familiar... We're talking Star Trek 2x22, “Return to Tomorrow”

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and Dave learn what a sensual thing an apology can be – and that if you drink too much ya might turn green, maman! Or your drink might, anyway. As we continue our rewatch/first-watch of The Original Series, we find ourselves face-to-face with the Kelvans, desperate to make it back home to their Andromeda galaxy -- but becoming human comes with weaknesses, maman! We're talking Star Trek 2x21, “By Any Other Name.”

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and Dave beam down to Sigma Iotia II — the planet that found a book about Chicago mobsters and decided to run with it! From fedoras to tommy guns, the Iotians built an entire society modeled after 1920s gangland culture, maman. Now the warring “bosses” want the Federation to supply them with heaters for their escalating turf war. It’s one of the funniest and most iconic episodes of The Original Series, blending sci-fi satire with pulpy gangster style. Dave likes to think of it as “A Private Little Cosplay” — but you’ll know it better as Star Trek 2x20, “A Piece of the Action.”

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and I find ourselves dark place drained of energy, maman – I’m not talking about seasonal depression – We’re spending some time inside of a giant amoeba as we review Star Trek 2x19, "The Immunity Syndrome"!
