    Show notes

Musa and Ryan begin with a very quick shout-out for some results in the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A (00:30), before being joined by Seb Stafford-Bloor (09:00). They discuss St. Pauli’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, which all but sealed the title for Bayern; Xabi Alonso’s future; whether he will stay at Leverkusen or head to Madrid; and whether this season may have been slightly underrated from a Leverkusen perspective. There’s also talk about the draw from St. Pauli’s point of view, increasing their chances of staying up in what has been a brilliant season back in the Bundesliga so far (38:50).

PSG and Barcelona Progress Despite Second-Leg Scares Apr 16, 2025
    Show notes

While both sides suffered second-leg defeats, it was PSG and Barcelona that progressed to the Champions League semifinals. Musa and Ryan begin at Villa Park, where Aston Villa beat PSG 3-2 on the night (02:33) and very nearly sent the game into extra time. Barcelona also had a scare at the Westfalenstadion (25:49), where they lost to Borussia Dortmund—thanks to a Serhou Guirassy hat trick—but ultimately did enough to push through, leaving Barça to face a clash with either Bayern or Inter.

More Mo Salah, Munich Muller, and McIlroy’s Masters! Apr 14, 2025
    Show notes

In the week that Mo Salah signed a new deal, Musa and Ryan begin with Liverpool securing another win to bring the title closer—with rumors on the horizon that there are more contract extensions due to be announced—capping off a great week at Anfield (01:50). They chat about the crowded race for the Premier League Champions League spots, the 2-2 draw between Bayern and Dortmund in Munich (21:51), and some other results around Europe. Finally, following Rory McIlroy’s win at the Masters, which made him only the sixth men's player to achieve the career Grand Slam in golf, they discuss sporting arcs coming to completion and what comparisons there have been in football (28:48).

Barça Brilliant, Plus Advantage PSG Apr 10, 2025
    Show notes

Musa and Ryan look back at Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Dortmund, which saw Hansi Flick's side take charge of their quarterfinal tie (03:01). Two goals from Robert Lewandowski, plus goals for Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, were enough for a brilliant Barça, while Dortmund's likely to be disappointed not to have gotten on the scoresheet. In part two, they’re joined by ESPN’s Luis Miguel Echegaray to talk about PSG’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa in Paris (14:05), as well as his new book, ‘Messi Mania’ (32:00), available to buy now and released as an audiobook on 20th May.

They then chat about the game in Munich, where Inter left with a 2-1 lead over Bayern to take back to San Siro (27:02).

Not a Classic Manchester Derby, but Positives for United? Apr 07, 2025
    Show notes

Musa and Ryan begin with a quick Premier League round-up (02:51), which saw Fulham inflict only the second league defeat of the season for Liverpool. Villa and Forest also served up a cracker at Villa Park, and it was goals and red cards at Selhurst Park. Plus, Southampton were relegated. They then turn their attention to the Manchester derby, which wasn’t a classic, and a catalyst to talk about Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, and the club’s future (08:04). Finally, there’s a quick look around La Liga, where Valencia won at the Bernabéu for the first time in 17 years (29:38), plus the Bundesliga and Serie A.

There's Only One Place to Begin ... Arminia Bielefeld! Apr 03, 2025
    Show notes

There really is only one place to begin this episode, and it’s with Arminia Bielefeld’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen to get through to the DFB-Pokal final for the first time in its history (03:42). Musa and Ryan chat about the third-tier side knocking out the current holders, the fourth Bundesliga side they’ve beaten on their way to the final, and their opponents—Stuttgart—who beat Leipzig 3-1 to head to Berlin. In Spain, it was Real Madrid and Barcelona who progressed to set up a Clásico Copa del Rey final (13:10). Real Madrid served up an eight-goal thriller against Real Sociedad on Tuesday, whereas Barcelona were efficient in their 1-0 win at Atleti on Wednesday. There’s also a quick shout for the cups in Italy and France, before they round up the midweek Premier League games (24:26).

Bellingham and Mbappé Brilliance, Two-Horse Races in La Liga and Serie A Mar 31, 2025
    Show notes

Before moving on to some big results from the weekend, Musa gives his thoughts on Thomas Tuchel’s first two games as the England men’s manager (04:23), before he and Ryan touch on the FA Cup quarter finals (11:32). They then head to La Liga and Serie A, where the title races seemed to lose contenders this weekend. In La Liga (17:21), Atlético's draw with Espanyol continued a run of patchy form that has seen them fall six points behind Real Madrid and nine behind Barcelona, both of whom won this weekend. In Serie A (32:45), despite dramatic ends to both games, Napoli and Inter won, while Atalanta lost a second game in a row—dropping from the top two.
