Pennsylvania Woodsman - Beyond The Trophy: A Late Bloomer’s Passion For The Outdoors Nov 12, 2025
    Show notes

On this week's episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, Mitch is joined by Tim Schlappich, a Pennsylvania native and member of the Final Stand crew who found his passion for hunting later in life. Tim shares his journey from being an avid angler and traveler in the military to diving headfirst into the world of whitetails, first in Nebraska’s river bottoms and now across the big woods and marshes of the East Coast. Through trial, patience, and curiosity, he’s learned to balance the challenges of new terrain, the lure of technology, and the importance of keeping the adventure alive.
Throughout their conversation, Mitch and Tim reflect on the tension between trophy hunting and personal fulfillment—how the fun, the people, and the places matter more than antlers on the wall. From Sika deer on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to DIY filming and mentoring new hunters, Tim’s story captures the spirit of curiosity and humility that makes hunting special. It’s an episode about growth, grit, and remembering why we step into the woods in the first place.

Antler Up - Is the Rut Even Real? Nov 12, 2025
    Show notes

In Episode 299 of the Antler Up Podcast, Jeremy recaps a tough rut weekend in Pennsylvania with little daylight buck activity despite long all‑day sits. He shares the ups and downs of Saturday’s move into thicker cover, Sunday’s rain‑shortened hunt, and the frustration of seeing shooter bucks only on camera at night. Alongside these stories, Jeremy lays out practical rut strategies for the week of November 10–16, emphasizing patience, midday sits, and smart adjustments to weather and trail camera intel. Listeners also hear a shoutout to Jim for filling his New York archery tag, a preview of his upcoming gun opener, and coverage of the new bow releases from Mathews, Hoyt, and Prime, plus timely Pennsylvania hunting updates.

To round out the episode, Jeremy throws in an older conversation with Andy May from Episode 231, “Get Better & Keep it Simple.” In that discussion, Andy shares how hunters often overcomplicate their approach and why simplifying gear, trusting experience, and focusing on continuous learning can lead to greater success. He emphasizes that challenges and encounters often outweigh the size of bucks harvested, and that keeping things simple helps hunters stay efficient and confident in the field. Pairing Jeremy’s current rut grind with Andy’s timeless advice makes this episode a blend of real‑time hunting reflection and evergreen wisdom for whitetail hunters.

Missouri Woods and Water - Tales of the Chase - Border Brothers Nov 11, 2025
    Show notes

This week on the Missouri Woods & Water Podcast, Nate and Micah get a chance to sit down with our new friend Bryce Richardson about one of the coolest stories we have heard or had the chance to be a part of in some way. We met Bryce through a chance encounter while hunting together on a new piece of property and the rest of the story picks up steam from there. It is a great story from several angles. It shows that hunting neighbors can approach their common interests like normal people instead of asshats. It also is a great story of a bowhunter's first buck, and catching the aftermath in an unlikely way. Congratulations to Bryce on an awesome deer and thanks for listening!Check out the MWW Website for shows, partner discounts, and more!!!

Hound Dog Network - Gone To The Dogs: Lone Pine Kennels 2025 Nov 11, 2025
    Show notes

In this episode Steve is live at Lone Pine Treeing Walker Kennels in Kittanning, Pennsylvania with owner Randy Smith. The episode takes place midway through a seven-day and night hound-hunting adventure that has become an annual affair for Fielder and Smith.

The friends discuss the previous three nights of coon hunting and the accompanying afternoons running Smith’s beagles on Pennsylvania cottontails. True to Smith’s preferences in coonhounds, each of Smith’s rabbit runners is a female.

The episode runs the gamut of subjects from play by plays of the week’s hunts, current hounds in the Lone Pine stable, recent and planned breedings and plans for the future in competition.

Smith is always a good listen as he cordially reveals the inner comings and goings of the nation’s most successful breeding kennel in the coonhound sport. This is hound talk at its finest. Enjoy,
