Who should the Cowboys pick for the 2019 NFL Draft? Apr 16, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the Cowboys Ballzy podcast host discuss the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys don't have a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft because of their trade to acquire Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders. Dallas' first selection will come in the second round at No. 58 overall.

Europe's Michael Jordan: How Dirk Nowitzki's talents transcended an ocean, opened doors for others Apr 16, 2019
    Show notes

He didn't want it to be this way, but Dirk Nowitzki's 21st NBA season quickly evolved into a long, heartfelt public goodbye.

Tributes poured in, as did thoughtful opinions about Nowitzki's legacy. His career was widely eulogized, often in past tense. Reporters and fans live-tweeted the funeral, even though, clearly, Nowitzki's career wasn't yet dead.

True to his personality, Nowitzki not only never complained, but he often spoke during his career's wake, usually with humor.

Elvis Andrus is no Dirk Nowitzki, but a full career with the Rangers could make him just as celebrated Apr 16, 2019
    Show notes

Dirk Nowitzki is retired now. Almost a full week. Long live Dirk.

But it's sports and so the discussion moves quickly. A week ago, it was: Dirk can never be replaced as a Dallas sports icon. Now: Is there anybody who might come close?

Elvis Andrus might be as good an answer as anybody.

Andrus is off to a blazing start in his 11th season with the Rangers and quickly closing in on 1,500 games with the franchise. Over the last week, as he watched the tributes to Nowitzki, it didn't go unnoticed that he could one day lay claim to having played more games for a North Texas-based franchise than anybody else.

Why do the Rangers have such a hard time hitting away from Globe Life Park? Apr 09, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the Rangers Ballzy podcast, host Kevin Sherrington, David Moore chat with Evan Grant about why the Rangers seem to have a hard time winning away

In less than a year, when they are safely ensconced in their retractable roof stadium, the Rangers are going to have to find ways to maximize the usage of their old park to sustain its viability.

Stay with me here, but here's an idea:

Prop that bad boy up on a couple of flatbeds and drag it around the country behind them.

Because this is a team that has, for at least the last four years, seemed to lose any offensive identity when it loses sight of its home park. And, if the first road series of the 2019 season is any indication, the trend is going to continue.

Texas Tech to face a Michigan State team with similar qualities Apr 02, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the NCAA, Ballzy podcast host discuss the 2019 Final Four Basketball tournament.

In its first Final Four, Texas Tech will be facing maybe the only team in the NCAA tournament that prides itself on toughness and physical play as much as the Red Raiders. Second-seed Michigan State beat Duke 68-67 Sunday in the East Region. Guard Cassius Winston (20 points, 10 assists) dribbled out the final 4.7 seconds evading Blue Devil defenders.

Is Adrian Sampson what the Rangers need for pitching? Apr 02, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the Rangers Ballzy podcast, host Kevin Sherrington, David Moore chat with Evan Grant about Rangers pitching, Globe Life Park and more.

Adrian Sampson, whose day begin with an hour-long wait to get through security at the Nashville airport, gave the Rangers six innings of four-hit, one-run baseball against Houston. He saved the bullpen in relief of Drew Smyly. He also took the loss in a 2-1 defeat thanks to a double that left the bat at 60 mph. And, as an added bonus, he might just get a return trip to Triple-A Nashville in time to make a scheduled start Saturday.

Cowboys extend suspended DE Randy Gregory through 2020 Apr 02, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the Rangers Ballzy podcast, host Kevin Sherrington, David Moore chat with Evan Grant about Randy Gregory, and the future of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys have extended Gregory's contract through 2020, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday morning. Gregory, 26, was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract.

In February, Gregory was suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, his fourth suspension since joining the Cowboys as a second-round draft pick in 2015. Despite another setback, the Cowboys see a player putting in great effort to battle for his health and sobriety, so there are no plans to turn their backs on him.

Breaking down who's left in Texas Tech's NCAA region: Big Ten doppelganger, the No. 1 seed and size galore Mar 26, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the Rangers Ballzy podcast host discuss the 2019 NCAA Basketball tournament.

So it's a good bet that Texas Tech coach Chris Beard will be reminding folks at the NCAA West Region in Anaheim where the Red Raiders were picked by Big 12 coaches before the season began. It's a good bet it may sound a little like Beard's comments after the Red Raiders beat Buffalo 78-58 on Sunday to reach their second consecutive Sweet 16.

What the Rangers’ latest tough-love lesson means for Willie Calhoun – Texas’ most tantalizing prospect Mar 26, 2019
    Show notes

In this edition of the Rangers Ballzy podcast, host Kevin Sherrington chat with Evan Grant about Rangers opening day.

Willie Calhoun has come a long way, all right. Last year, before swearing off snacks and Call of Duty into the wee hours, he lost to Drew Robinson, Ryan Rua and Carlos Tocci, which doesn't exactly read like Benintendi, Bradley and Betts. This time he got beat out by Hunter Pence and an eight-man bullpen. Believe it or not, this constitutes progress.
