Nito is a young otter with big plans and the confidence to match, who learns that a good start can turn into something sturdier when others join in. His pride, and his willingness to ask anyway, make this a story that feels like sitting with friends after a long day of work.

After a storm weakens the riverbank, Nito tries to build a dam alone and discovers the task is heavier than it looks. He asks for help, and a beaver, a heron, and two frogs bring the exact pieces the river needs. Together they build a dam that holds, and by the end the story belongs to four names instead of one.
