CM Punk went out on Smackdown and cut the promo most people were waiting for, making his mission statement clear as it relates to the Royal Rumble. Seth Rollins also spoke to Sports Illustrated and threw more gasoline on the fire in his "feud" with Punk, and all roads lead to Wrestlemania. Solomonster maps it all out and explains why WWE is very fortunate right now to be so strong on their babyface side, in a way they haven't been in many years. He also addresses the latest report on Okada becoming a free agent and considering a jump to WWE or AEW, as well as his shocking return to TNA Wrestling in January... another potential big defection coming soon, this time from the Knockouts division in Impact... it's the END OF AN ERA for WWE Home Video and thoughts on the decline of the physical media category... how AEW has completely dropped the ball with Konosuke Takeshita and why they cannot do the same with Swerve Strickland... reacting to a Peter Rosenberg clip talking about Tony Khan becoming what Vince McMahon once was, why he's wrong and what the REAL advantage was that AEW had over WWE for a lot of talent and fans that they no longer do... a full review for NXT DEADLINE with an appearance by CM Punk, a new North American champion crowned, the Iron Survivor Challenge winners and the story of what killed Baron Corbin's push in 2017 when he hit rockbottom with his failed MITB cash-in... then it's a FAT ASS MAILBAG with tons of questions on Godzilla Minus One, how to get Cody Rhodes to Roman Reigns without winning the Royal Rumble, why Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk DOES need the championship to headline Night One, the return of Sasha Banks to WWE, taking Tammy Sytch out of the Hall of Fame, Gunther dropping the IC title in a LADDER MATCH, why Tamina Snuka was never booked to be Women's champion and a potential WWE Hall of Fame class for 2024. Solomonster reviews WWE Smackdown for December 8th with CM Punk giving us the promo we were expecting on the Raw after Survivor Series, namedropping various members of the roster while stating his mission to win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania, and even taking a not-so-subtle dig at the Young Bucks. Outside of the Punk promo, it was a very missable episode with two first round matches in the US Title tournament and a possible injury to Charlotte Flair.

Solomonster reviews AEW Dynamite with more Continental Classic matches and the first singles match between Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in 13 years. If you listened to me two weeks ago, you knew that Nick Wayne's mother was going to get involved and go heel, and while it did make sense for her to do what she did, I still can't help but roll my eyes that Nick Wayne's mother played a role in the finish of the first Edge and Christian match in an AEW ring.

With CM Punk back in WWE, now what? We got mixed messages this week with an apparent showdown coming with Seth Rollins, but also rumors of life to a possible Punk vs. Steve Austin match for WrestleMania 40 and a future match against Roman Reigns. Solomonster gives his thoughts on Stone Cold possibly coming back out of retirement for one more match, the one thing missing from Austin's match with Kevin Owens that would be a MUST for any Punk match, and how WWE could get TWO clashes out of it with Punk and Reigns... plus, thoughts on the alleged "behavior clause" in Punk's contract, his first promo on Monday night and why he's become the one thing he hated when he dropped his famous pipebomb promo... thoughts on Randy Orton signing with Smackdown and mapping out the early Wrestlemania card as things currently stand... the latest on Jade Cargill's training at the WWE Performance Center... Bryan Danielson revealed to be on the disciplinary committee that recommended CM Punk be terminated from AEW and no, Danielson did not FIRE Punk from the company... good news for AEW with its early ticket sales for Wembley Stadium next year... MJF dealing with a torn labrum heading into World's End and Britt Baker drops a salty tweet after Dynamite... Ric Flair causes controversy at the AEW Rampage taping for being, well, Ric Flair... QT Marshall quits AEW and there are plenty of explanations to go around as to why this has happened... Matt Hardy expresses frustration with the way the Hardys are being used by Tony Khan... and Tammy Sytch finally learns her punishment on her DUI manslaughter and other charges, how much time she will spend in prison and her comments in open court.

After 10 years away, and after being terminated by AEW only two months ago, CM Punk has found his way back to WWE. It was a SHOCKING return at the end of Survivor Series and I'm not afraid to admit, I didn't think it was going to happen. But I've got all the details on why it happened, when it all came together, Triple H's comments about Punk coming back, the video of an angry Seth Rollins reacting to Punk's return, Drew McIntyre also being said to be upset last night and so much more. This has thrown the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania into CHAOS now, which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on whether or not you are a Punk fan. I also have a lot to say about his AEW departure and why Tony Khan was still right to get rid of him when he did, and why this is Punk's last chance to write the final chapter of his story the way he wants it to be written. But there's another aspect to this story that is being glossed over that I think may be the MOST significant thing to come out of the last 24 hours and I'll tell you what that is. ALSO... Triple H politely speaks the truth out loud about Jade Cargill and why we haven't seen her back on WWE television yet... MJF is said to have already re-signed with AEW and NOT spoken with WWE, and why this is the least surprising news of the week... AEW Continental Classic updates, what I think the finals should be and the mistake I think Tony Khan made on Wednesday night... NWA Powerrr episodes QUIETLY added to The CW App, the reaction from those inside the promotion to the news and the MAJOR NWA name that could be on their way out of the company at the end of this year... responding to the people mocking the idea of Bray Wyatt being a deserving induction into the WWE Hall of Fame... can AEW Rampage be saved?... and was there ANYTHING good to come out of the later years of WCW?

WWE Smackdown 11/24/23 Review - LAST STOP BEFORE WAR GAMES AND TROUBLE IS BREWING Nov 25, 2023

Show notes

Solomonster reviews the go home edition of WWE Smackdown for November 24th with a change for the better in the Survivor Series card, and tensions flaring between members of the babyface squad in War Games, but not much else to really speak of. The Judgment Day stopped by to defend their Undisputed tag team titles, but it certainly wasn't made out to feel like anything special.
