301: Alison Bernstein, Founder of Suburban Jungle Realty Nov 30, 2015
    Show notes

Today’s show is about real estate and relocation. I live in Brooklyn, where people complain that they’re getting priced out. It’s not just Manhattan with its high prices, but also Brooklyn and even parts of Queens. So, hard working families are finding themselves at the crossroads, do they stay and squeeze themselves and their two and a half kids into a tiny apartment? Or do they venture a little further out to the suburbs? Today, the founder of Suburban Jungle Realty Group, Alison Bernstein joins us. The company, which launched in 2008 in New York City and has since expanded to other cities including Miami and LA, is a suburban relocation firm exclusively focused on buyers looking to leave their city for greener pastures, literally. She has been dubbed as the "suburban matchmaker for urban families." Families can work with a personal strategist and team of agents and locals for free of charge to help them find their dream home in the right location. Often, you might make a big move to a suburb only to discover it’s not exactly what you thought it would be like. The company was founded after Alison took on the daunting task herself of relocating out of Manhattan and found she was unable to pick a home that would suit her family in a nice town. It took them three moves before settling down in Armonk. Now, she’s committed to helping families and simplifying the process so that they don’t go through the same situation that she did. 299: Farnoosh Torabi, Host of So Money (Replay) Nov 26, 2015
    Show notes

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I’m reporting to you from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from the home where my husband grew up. I'm feeling very grateful this year for my healthy and beautiful son Evan, my best friend and husband Tim and my supportive and loving family. I’m thankful to have a career I love, a home, my health. This year I’ll be thinking and praying for all of the families all over states and abroad in Paris, Syria and the middle east. I forget sometimes how lucky I am. My parents came here more or less fleeing their homeland of Iran in the late 70s, early 80s, when the country was in the midst of a dark war and revolution. I would not be here if the United States didn’t grant my dad a permit to stay here and work and ultimately earn his citizenship along with my mom. For today’s episode, we’re doing a throwback to MY interview recorded back in July. My guest host – Joe Saul Sehy of Stacking Benjamins– you just heard him on the podcast earlier discussing our charity competition. He put me in the hots eat and asked me the very same questions I ask of my guests. I shared things with him I don’t think I’ve shared with anyone…Hope you’ll enjoy it. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday. Wishing you health, wealth and happiness. For more information visit www.somoneypodcast.com.

297: Todd Torabi, Product Designer at Petrolicious Nov 24, 2015
    Show notes

Today's guest is a really special person... he's my brother! You’ve heard him on the show before as he was my co-host during some of the earlier episodes of Ask Farnoosh. Todd and I have a very big age gap. I am almost 11 years his senior, so you can imagine we have a special relationship. I remember changing many of his diapers, babysitting him and driving him to school. Both our parents worked at one point and the only person who could take Todd to kindergarten in the morning was ME. I would actually take Todd to my 1st period history class my senior year in high school and have a special note that allowed me to leave school at 8:30 to go drop Todd off at kindergarten and come back to school. I was single parenting at 17! Proud to say that Todd – a MILLENNIAL! – has gone on to achieve a great deal in his early 20s. He is currently a product designer at Petrolicious, a media company and award-winning film series showcasing the powerful relationship between vintage cars and their owners. This job he got by first just emailing the founder out of the blue. Talk about guts! Todd also teaches. He helps run a 10-week User Experience Design course at the technology school, General Assembly. He loves to play basketball and tennis. He is a die hard Patriots Fan and has recently taken up meditation. You wouldn’t know we’re related based on those interests…except the tennis part. He and I took lessons this summer and he kicked my butt. For more information visit www.somoneypodcast.com.

My guest today says he doesn’t like talking about personal wealth. He reveals this late in our interview, which kind of shocked me and made feel a bit bad because here I am digging into his personal finances. But he graciously makes an exception for us. My former boss and mentor Jim Cramer, co-founder of TheStreet.com and host of Mad Money on CNBC is on the show. For more information visit www.somoneypodcast.com.
