Why I Hate The Term "Cry-It-Out" (it’s probably not why you think!) Apr 08, 2025
    Show notes

First and foremost, Cry-it-out (CIO) also known as "extinction" is NOT an approach used by The Happy Sleep Company, but certainly one that is very prevalent among search engine results related to sleep coaching. So let's talk about it, in this episode I explain why I hate the term CIO (which might not be why you think) and also gives parents an understanding of what CIO really is.

    Q&A: Is This Normal?! Apr 01, 2025
    Show notes

Answering this weeks Top 5 Questions! This week's questions had many families asking, is this normal?! We answer your questions but also remind our families that every child and situation is different and the terms what is normal vs. standard from a sleep consultant

    – Do moving bassinets like the SNOO help newborns fall asleep by themselves?

    – How long should it take baby to fall asleep once they are in the crib?

    – Is it normal for a 10 minute car nap to reset my baby’s wake window?

    – My 5 month old goes to bed well but has short cry outs a couple of times per night. Why is this?

    – My 10 month old is randomly waking up twice per night again when he used to STTN, but he falls asleep independently. Why?

The Happy Sleep Company’s Infant / Toddler Sleep Program is suited best for children who are 14 weeks to 3 years of age and still sleeping in a crib. Children at this age need healthy sleep for proper development, to boost their immune systems, and to help them take in the big, bright, ever-changing world around them. At this age and in this environment, amazing sleep habits can be established very quickly with loads of consistency and tons of love involved! We will work closely with your family to develop a sleep plan that is right for your child, and help you help your little one to be sleeping through the night and taking proper naps within our two weeks together! Wearable Infant Sleep Monitors? Helpful or Harmful? Are They Worth It? Feb 25, 2025
    Show notes

A tough topic but an important one today — Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), which includes Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), is the leading cause of mortality in infancy. We always want to help families understand the ways they can reduce the risks of SIDS, we also work with families who are using products that are often marketed towards the idea of reducing SIDS but are actually causing a lot of anxiety for parents. Sleep is a really big challenge for a lot of families with young babies but following safe sleep recommendations can prevent many SIDS fatalities.

Q&A: Putting Baby in Crib Awake, Wake Windows, Vacations with a Time Change and more! Feb 18, 2025
    Show notes

Answering this weeks Top 5 Questions! This week's questions highlight the following:

    — My 9 month old wakes up at 5:30am each day going in and out of sleep and making noises here and there until 6 or 6:30am - should I change something about his schedule?

    — I’m working on sleep coaching, and I’m trying to put my baby in the crib awake. My question is, does her “wake window” end when I put her in the crib, or when she actually falls asleep?

    — We’re going on a vacation with a 1 hour time difference. Would you adjust with the time zone or not?

    — How to transition from bed sharing to crib sleeping for my 7 month old.

    — My 8.5 month old still wakes 2-3 times per night to eat. How do I change this? Please help!

    Show notes

When we start working with families, it is very typical that there is one parent excited and on board for sleep coaching — and one who is a little more skeptical. And in my experience... it is usually Dad's that have been the more apprehensive of it all. So today's episode, we have one of our Happy Sleep Dads, Chris Golle on to talk through it all, share his experience and how he is now a believer!
