    Single Mother Survival Guide

    Becoming a single mum is one of the most daunting and overwhelming life changes someone will ever go through. Whether you are pregnant or have teenagers, you will most likely be confused and struggling with what to do next. I became a single mum in 2013 when my daughter was just a few months old, and it has been a challenging but rewarding journey ever since. This Podcast (and the website www.singlemothersurvivalguide) was created to assist newly single mothers in all things they may need to know about.

    SO WHAT IS THE SINGLE MOTHER SURVIVAL GUIDE PODCAST ABOUT?

    A Podcast for single mums, made by a single mum… The Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast includes a mixture of me babbling about single mums business and interviews and discussions with different people and experts about different topics.

    First off the ranks this includes an interview with a Wills and Estate lawyer which contains everything YOU need to know about getting a Will done, an interview with a financial adviser on everyday money management, savings, spending and so forth, an interview with an online security expert so that YOU know how to keep yourself secure online, an open interview with a domestic violence survivor and advocate, and another interview with a financial adviser on everything to do with insurance, and what you should think about getting insured to ensure the financial safety for you and your kids. Coming up after that I have chats with people including parenting experts, family lawyers, and a life coach.

    I also chat about the social stigma of being a single mum, single parent travel, everyday tips to make YOUR life easier, dating, personal budgeting, resources out there to help YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN, child support, domestic violence, successful co-parenting, advantages to being a single mum, and the list goes on…

    408 - The scarcity mindset - and how to overcome it! Jun 25, 2024

    407 - Helping our kids thrive through separation or divorce, with Hannah Strong Jun 18, 2024

    This week on the show, I have Hannah Strong joining me. Hannah Strong is an industry expert, coach, and therapist, specialising in helping mums to support their children in the best way possible through divorce and throughout a childhood of growing up with separated parents - so their children do not just survive and get by, but thrive! She supports mums through her own framework which is not only based on the science of child brain development and Hannah's psychological knowledge as a therapist but also her own lived experience as a separated mum of two children.

    Through Hannah's lived experience she personally understands the struggles of the mums she works with. Her passion for empowering children to thrive led to the creation of her own podcast and coaching programme known as My Thriving Child.

    406 - Mel Wilson and Isabelle Richards on Parenting in Progress Jun 11, 2024

    In this episode, I have Mel Wilson and Isabelle Richards joining me.

    Mel Wilson has over 20 years of experience in broadcast, print and digital journalism, covering parenting, lifestyle, entertainment and news. She is an accomplished voice artist, co-host of The Juggling Act podcast and executive producer of true crime podcast My Father The Murderer, which has been nominated for multiple awards. Mel herself has been nominated for and won a number of career awards, including Podcast of the Year at the Ausmumpreneur Awards, Best Parenting Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards, and Journalist of the Year and Executive of the Year at the Women in Media Awards. She's recently released her book, Parenting in Progress, a book of reassurance, advice and hilarious epic fails for parents and carers of toddlers to primary-school-aged kids, along with those from a diverse range of (celebrity) parents and carers, with a bit of guidance from experts thrown in.

    Isabelle Richards stars on Gogglebox Australia alongside her mum, Kerry, and her grandma, Emmie. Together, they showcase the power of multi-generational women's relationships and voices, now in the show's nineteenth season. As a contributing writer for Body+Soul, Mamamia, and Kidspot, Isabelle is passionate about exploring the unspoken truths about motherhood, love, and relationships. She thrives on sparking conversations that challenge social norms and inspire others to do the same. She is also an investor in social impact projects, driven by collaborative and purpose-driven thinking that fosters connection and social change.

    Both Mel and Isabelle have lived experience of being single mums, and have now re-partnered. Isabelle also has a new baby with her husband, Alex.
