**UNLOCKED** Deep Cut #1: Save EMF Jul 04, 2018
    Show notes

THIS IS A FREE PREVIEW OF BONUS SELLIN' OUT CONTENT. TO UNLOCK FUTURE BONUS SHOWS VISIT PATREON...AND THANKS!

This past spring saw the eviction and subsequent displacement of over 200 tenants of the EMF Building, a rehearsal studio/arts complex in Cambridge, MA. Ben Simon, a former EMF tenant and organizer with Cambridge Artists Coalition, joined me to discuss the underlying issues that allowed this to happen, the activism that has arisen in response and whether it will ultimately have any effect.

    MUSIC FROM THE SHOW:
Toby Tantrum, "A City Is Not a Dormitory" (from Community for Those Who Can Afford It)

Don't Drink the Water w/ Anthony Gesa (Gatherers) Jun 27, 2018
    Show notes

Anthony Gesa plays guitar in Gatherers, one of the best current bands in the oddly specific screamo/post-rock/post-hardcore milieu. He also works with the record label and management firm Party Smasher Inc. and spent the better part of two years on the road with The Dillinger Escape Plan as they traveled the world on their farewell tour. We talked about how love interests can guide our musical decision making for better or worse, the foolhardiness (or not?) of vocational training for the music business, and being warned not to walk around sightseeing in India.

    MUSIC FROM THE SHOW:
    Gatherers, "The Floorboards Are Breathing"
    Pastlives, "Sol Invictus"
    Ornaments, "Sick at Heart"

Big In Canada w/ Daniel Thomson (Sparrows) Jun 20, 2018
    Show notes

Dan Thompson sings and plays guitar in the post-hardcore band Sparrows, straight outta Ontario. Dan is Canadian but I don't hold that against him. He joined me at One Sellin' Out Plaza to provide a crucial international perspective, like how back home he and his wife could have a baby and not be in debt to a private hospital system for like 10 years but I think I cut that part out because being debt-free is extremely not punk.

    MUSIC FROM THE SHOW:
Sparrows, "If We Make It Over the Mountain" (from Let The Silence Stay Where It Was)
Sparrows, "Carrying On With A Modern Lifespan" (from Let The Silence Stay Where It Was)
Sparrows, "Teething" (from Let The Silence Stay Where It Was)

"It's Gotta Have A Beat, Son" w/ Michael Pfohl (Secret Stuff) Jun 13, 2018
    Show notes

Michael Pfohl is the brains behind the Tennessee-based emo band Secret Stuff, as well as a local promoter in Nashville and booking agent for other touring artists. He joined me in the studio (a.k.a. my living room a.k.a. One Sellin' Out Plaza) to discuss the legal nuances of hosting hundreds of punk shows at a place you rent, to encourage owning up to your lofty ambitions, and to convince me to invest in cryptocurrency (which I did and it has stressed me out ever since).

    MUSIC FROM THE SHOW:
Secret Stuff, "Maybe You Love Me. Maybe You Floridon't" (from Learning Not to Care)
Low Mass, "The Long Morrow" (from Sleepwalker)
Secret Stuff, "Ew, You Taste Like Cigarettes" (from split w/ Sundressed)

"Serial Killer Wall" w/ Tim Williams (Ritual Apparel, ex-Our Lady) Jun 02, 2018
    Show notes

Tim Williams was the vocalist, guitarist and primary creative force behind Our Lady, a now-defunct emo band from Springfield, IL that may not have been traditionally "big" but left a lasting impression wherever they went. Now Tim and his wife Molli own and operate Ritual Apparel, a clothing company and lifestyle brand for people involved in strength sports. We talk about the transition from putting your creative efforts toward a band to focusing on a brand.

    MUSIC FROM THE SHOW:
    Our Lady, "Guilt" (from 'Lure')
Our Lady, "Wolf" (from 'split w/ Estates')
    Our Lady, "Coping" (from 'II')
