    154. Rediscovering Strength After a Devastating Diagnosis with Marnie Clark May 10, 2022
    Show notes

What does strength look like when your world gets flipped upside down? When you’re staring at a devastating diagnosis and fear threatens to end everything?

Giving up on your health journey is tempting, but gritting through while wearing a facade is equally tempting, too.

This episode...Wow. It may be one of the most incredible interviews I’ve had the honor of doing. It’s one of those conversations where you have to just sit and think for a while afterward because it impacts you that much.

I’m talking with Marnie Clark, a 54 year old mom who’s a former blogger and influencer in the sobriety world. But just recently she had to pivot and completely re-examine life and priorities after she was give a very surprising stage IV cancer diagnosis. She’s now on a mission to bring awareness to her type of cancer, the importance of good health and fitness, and this whole darn, scary, difficult journey.

I ask her some really tough questions, she shares some of the darkest moments of this journey, how she has felt supported the most by those around her, and we talk about what it means to be strong and brave right now.

We cried, we laughed, we talked about the goodness of God. Put this one on repeat, friend. You’re going to love my friend Marnie.

    147. All About Your Flexibility - Are You Stretching Right? Mar 22, 2022
    Show notes

Do you realize that good flexibility isn’t what you think it is? As one of the 6 key aspects of your fitness, you better be flexible. And my guess is that you probably either love it (because you’re naturally flexible), or you hate it (because you’re as tight as a drum and need it). Either way, you might not be stretching correctly!

In this episode, I’m teaching you how being flexible is about so much more than just having long and loose muscles. You’ll also learn that working on your flexibility has to include more than just holding a stretch, and what you should be doing instead.

If you crave a body that feels open and loose, yet strong, durable and no longer injury prone, then this episode is for you!

    146. Create the Healthy Family Culture You Want with Kimberly Amici Mar 15, 2022
    Show notes

Family culture exists whether you know it or not - for better or worse. For many families, the culture feels strained, tense, reactive and downright unhealthy. Try throwing some personal self-care plans into the mix, and you have a recipe for disaster and high levels of frustration for everyone involved.

Our guest today is the expert on this subject. After spending years helping businesses and large organizations create healthy, thriving cultures, Kimberly Amici is now focused on helping families thrive. Kimberly is the founder of Build Your Best Family, and today she’s going to show us how we can get clear on our family values and start living them out in practical ways.

Some awesome quotes from this episode:

“Ask yourself ‘how do we want people to feel when they leave our presence?’”

“Getting that buy-in from other family members can be hard, so we have to start by being clear on our own personal values first.”

    We also talk about:

    • How to handle it when us moms really want our families to be known for being healthy, fit, and active - but often other family members aren’t interested.
    • What to do when we begin to feel resentment toward our family
    • How can we listen better to our kids and use their feedback to help transform our family
