Taking the Leap and Going All In with Kelly Boyles of Milk House Shakes Nov 28, 2017
    Show notes

Happy #SeekTheJoy Tuesday and welcome back to the Seek The Joy Podcast!

On today’s episode is Kelly Boyles. Kelly won the 2017 Calling All Dreamers Competition in Sacramento earlier this year for Milk House Shakes. Milk House Shakes will feature milkshakes named and themed after U.S. Presidents, combining Kelly's love of milkshakes with her passion for U.S. history.

Kelly is getting ready to open up her first store front in Old Town Sacramento in early 2018 (she's going for Presidents Day - so stay tuned!)

Kelly and I met at USC, she was my new member educator when I first joined my sorority. Kelly is one of the kindest, most caring and genuine people that I know - and I can't imagine this opportunity going to a more deserving person.

Kelly went to USC with the intention of becoming a history teacher and she has always loved milkshakes (we chat a little bit about that and Ground Zero aka only the BEST milkshake cafe at USC). When she entered the competition, she initially wanted to open a food truck. Once she entered though, she knew she wanted to go all in.

It's so cool to see her idea and passion come to life.

What I love about Milk House Shakes is Kelly's plan to make the shop a place where people can come and learn more about U.S. history while enjoying a great milkshake.

We chat all about entering the competition, what that journey was like for her, and the process developing the Milk House Shakes concept. We also talk about kindness, showing grace to yourself and others, and how staying balanced and grounded is really difficult when you're starting a new business.

To find out more about Kelly and Milk House Shakes you can visit their website milkhouseshakes.com

Or visit their Facebook and Instagram

Running on Passion & Purpose with Sarah Brunet Nov 21, 2017
    Show notes

Happy #SeekTheJoy Tuesday and welcome back to The Seek The Joy Podcast! βœ¨πŸ’›πŸŽ™

On today's episode is Sarah Brunet.

Sarah runs on passion and purpose - in everything that she does.

Sarah is the owner of a boutique immigration law firm based in Los Angeles, CA. Sarah is dedicated, passionate, energetic, and compassionate. Originally from France, she came to California to attend Pepperdine Law School - which is where we met.

Sarah was at the forefront of advocating for and helping individuals who were caught up in the travel ban that went into effect earlier this year by the Trump administration. She was instrumental in offering free legal help at LAX, and she started Track the Ban - a website that streamlined the most important information, provided daily recommendations, and a legal packet that helped travelers coming to the United States.

She saw a need - and she stepped up. Big time.

Sarah says it so eloquently on today's episode - we are here to learn. We're given so much time in this life, and it's our opportunity and responsibility to invest our time in making a difference and giving back.

Giving more than you receive, taking risks, staying humble, running on emotional adrenaline and passion and purpose - all on today's episode.

You can find more information on Sarah and her practice at brunet-immigration.com

A great article all about Track The Ban from earlier this year can be found here

Building Connection & Community with Rebeca Enriquez Nov 14, 2017
    Show notes

    Happy #SeekTheJoy Tuesday!

On today's episode is Rebeca Enriquez. Rebeca is the Development Coordinator at Camp Kesem and I'm so happy and excited to share her story on today's episode.

Rebeca and I met at USC, and we spent our Junior year as each other's #1 and #2. She was President of Alpha Chi Omega while I was VP of Chapter Relations and Standards - I would not have made it through that year without her and her friendship.

Camp Kesem is such a special organization and is one that changed Rebeca's life. After losing her mom to cancer in her junior year of college, she fell in love with the mission of Camp Kesem. In fact, she helped start the chapter at USC in 2013 where she first served as a Volunteer Coordinator.

Rebeca candidly shares her story and journey on today's episode. Through her work with Kesem and the community that she has built for herself, she has found her passion, stayed true to herself, and continues to learn so much about herself along the way.

Support, community, bravery, strength, vulnerability, honesty, friendship, and love. All on today's episode.

You can find more information on Camp Kesem at www.kesem.org and on the show notes for today's episode here

Change Is an Inside Job - Kindness & Storylines ✨ Nov 09, 2017
    Show notes

    What's your storyline?

This is a question that I've thought about, mulled over, stressed about, and worked to make my own for most of my life.

The conversations I've had over the last several weeks have deeply inspired and motivated me to get quiet, dig deep, and remind myself of the tough questions and my truth.

Self-care, kindness, and setting good boundaries - three themes that have come up time and again on this podcast - and it's time we open up the dialogue more and get, real.

The truth is in order to really talk about self-care and kindness, we have to address the way we talk to ourselves. Our self-talk. Well, our negative self-talk and the storylines we weave for ourselves.

Self-care. Kindness. Fear. Resistance. Breaking old patterns. Trust. Love. Connection. Belonging. Worthiness. Perception. Joy. Writing my own story.

I talk about all of this on today's podcast.

Give today's episode a listen - sharing this part of me on this episode and on this podcast makes me a little nervous, but I know there is power in connection, sharing, authenticity, and our truth.

If you want to read more about today's episode click here to head over to the show notes page of the website.
