Join us as we provide a unique recap of the Seahawks 24-13 win over the Vikings in preseason Week 1.

409: Seattle Seahawks 2023 Season Expectations Aug 10, 2023

Show notes

This 2023 season is about to begin! So what do we expect from our Seattle Seahawks this season? First off, the Seahawks have a much different quarterback situation this year than they do last year. We talk about Geno Smith and how our expectations have shifted since this time last year. One of the reasons why we're optimistic about Geno is because of all of the players in the supporting cast. Seattle has a potential star at running back with Kenneth Walker to go with a pair of receivers who don't get nearly enough credit nationally.

Reflecting back to last year's defensive performance, there is one area where we want to see a repeat and one thing that has to chance for the team to have success. If the Seahawks can keep their sack numbers around where they were last year, that would be a huge help. But if they can't rebound from being the third worst team against the run, then it's going to be another long year defensively.

After the break, we talk about our expectations for where the team finishes this season. Who are their biggest challengers in the NFC? Will they look to face off against the 49ers in the playoffs once again? We hit a big milestone as we celebrate 10 years of podcasting together. We started the Sea Hawkers Podcast back in 2013.

Sean Payton of the Broncos needs to do better and stop banning effective headwear from the Broncos facility. The Seahawks need to do better and go back to having an effective tailgating area so they can challenge the Packers for one of the best pregame cities. Better at life honors go out to Richard Sherman for taking his career full circle. He'll now be able to routinely remind Skip Bayless face-to-face just how much better at life he really is.

408: San Francisco 49ers - Know Your Rival 2023 Aug 02, 2023

Show notes

Seahawks fans owe a debt of gratitude to Pharoah Analytics this week, because they have projected the 2023 San Francisco 49ers win total at 6.5 wins this season. It gives us the perfect jumping off point to base our discussion around exactly what needs to happen for the Niners to finish in the cellar this season.

Perhaps this team is getting closer to seeing their window closing. If a player on their own team is talking about it happening it must be true. We discuss the quarterback battle going on in Niners camp and how Adam is one of Brandon Allen's biggest fans. On the defensive side, San Francisco picked up a big name in the offseason. But did they improve the defense overall when you add up all of their losses?

Seahawks training camp is underway and Devon Witherspoon is now in camp. But should we be concerned about his willingness to hold out and what it could mean for future contract negotiations with the Seahawks? Taylor Swift needs to do better for some of her latest antics impacting Seattle fans and Congress needs to do better when it comes to divulging information about aliens. Better at life honors go out to a reporter for some great quotes from an NFL coach and to Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs.

407: Los Angeles Rams - Know Your Rival 2023 Jul 23, 2023

Show notes

How do we characterize our sports hate for the Los Angeles Rams? Because it's a different type of hate compared to other rivals for the division. We discuss why the 2023 Rams are a benchmark team to decide how different analysts look at the game of football. With stars at a few skill positions, a beloved head coach in the media and 14 new draft picks added to the team, the Rams have something to love for a number of different media types.

What has to come together for a successful Rams season? They need to stay healthy, they need to hit on a large number of draft picks and they need to get off to a good start despite a schedule that is heavily stacked against them. Signing some free agents would also help, but it's unlikely that we'll see that from the LA front office.

We talk about the recent launch of the Seahawks throwback uniforms. There is one key thing the Seahawks need to do to make the season more enjoyable with the throwbacks. We talk about why a pair of former NFL players and a mayor from a town in France need to do better. Better at life honors go to an Australian sailor and to our Seahawks team.
