429: Your Word of the Day - Jellied Jan 04, 2024

Show notes

There's a crude joke from many years ago that led to a word often used on the show for a dominant run performance. The Seahawks were 'jellied' by the Steelers this past Sunday and on top of ruining a potential playoff berth, it's also one of the worst ways to lose a football game. The loss highlights an issue that has continued to show up on defense throughout Clint Hurtt's time as the defensive coordinator. Is it a coordinator issue or is it a problem that goes all the way to the top?

Fortunately (or unfortunately) the Seahawks will be tested by a similar running game this week in the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC West rival is coming off a win over last year's conference champion and it offers an opportunity to highlight the difference in coaching versus player performance. Can the Seahawks bounce back after a loss and put the team in a similar position as last year? Will we be cheering on the Bears to victory in hopes our Seahawks can make the playoffs?

After the break we talk about a popular name expected to re-enter the NFL coaching ranks and how unlikely of a fit it would be for the Seahawks. We discuss the potential of a civil war brewing within the show. Which side gets the best caterer? We call out the Seahawks general manager for a missed opportunity recently and to the writer of a Seahawks blog. Better at life honors go out to an elite comment from a Browns player and to the Washington Huskies for their title run.

3 IN, 3 OUT: No Time for Nuance Jan 03, 2024

Show notes

Sometimes it's a game of inches. Not this time. Brandan and Clinton ditch the nooks and crannies and talk about five major topics from this last game vs. the Steelers with a healthy dose of looking ahead to both our game vs. the Cardinals and the help we need from the Sausage kings of Chicago... Daaaaa Bears.

Live & UnCatfished: Steelers build using the Titans blueprint Jan 01, 2024

Show notes

For the last three weeks of Seahawks football, it was apparent to anyone watching that they were struggling in the trenches. Just last week the Titans nearly got the win by being able to dominate Seattle in the run game. The Pittsburgh Steelers saw that and took full advantage of it in their 30-23 victory over Seattle in Week 17. The Steelers secured another winning season for their head coach Mike Tomlin and it puts into question whether or not Pete Carroll will be able to lead Seattle to a winning season. The blueprint is out on the Seahawks defense and the Cardinals have the capability to use it coming up in Week 18. 3

PNW Prop Stars: Seahawks Props to Ring in the New Year Dec 30, 2023

Show notes

The last few Seahawks and Steelers games have been low scoring affairs. Will the trend continue as the two teams face off? The guys stay away from the receiving props this week for the most part and stick to more of the ground-based milestones. Is there a major discrepancy in the prediction for how many carries the Steelers top running back should get? We did into some of the primary matchups and how we expect the game to play out as the Seahawks look toward a potential playoff berth. Happy New Year to all!

What If?... Seahawks Fans get a New Year's Wish Dec 29, 2023

Show notes

Our Seahawks take on a hard-nosed team that wants to run the ball and attack the quarterback. Will the Steelers be able to get Najee Harris going? Will T.J. Watt have his way vs. Abe Lucas and company? We ask, "What if we make a wish for the New Year?" What would this game look like? We talk about players we would like to succeed (and perhaps get some revenge on their former steelers team) as well as the opposing playmakers who our Seahawks need to stop.

Could we see a Russell Wilson reunion in 2024? Dec 29, 2023

Show notes

Russell Wilson appears to be on his way out of Denver. Is there anything that could make a reunion in Seattle possible? Based on some commentary about Wilson's 2024 contract, the relative cost could be appealing, but would it be worth it? Is Russell Wilson still a starting quarterback or a high level backup. We discuss what it would take for a reunion to be possible in Seattle and if it's something that we would even want.

428: The Consequences of Inconsistency Dec 28, 2023

Show notes

In the 20-17 win against the Tennessee Titans, we saw some of the inconsistencies of the season continue. Fortunately, it still allowed for the Seahawks to get the win and part of that was attributed this past week to the amount of time Pete Carroll focuses on the two-minute offense. There's one aspect of the late-game offense that is different and Pete was asked this week why the team leads the league in throws to the sidelines. The answer was not satisfactory.

There are two big matchups to watch coming up against the Steelers on Sunday. Mike Tomlin is also looking to continue a career milestone that is coming down to the final two games of the season. Mason Rudolph is set to get the start in place of Kenny Pickett after putting up 30+ against the Bengals. We discuss what went into the Steelers success last week.

The Seahawks do have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot this Sunday. Even though it only involved the outcome in one game apart from the Seahawks, it's not a very likely outcome. Plus, should we be lobbying for the Niners to get the top seed? We talk about the latest Russell Wilson news in the Do Better segment along with some frustrations with a Mac update. Better at life honors go out to one of the FCS Championship teams and to the Seahawks for coming out way ahead on one of the biggest front office moves in team history.

3 IN, 3 OUT: Comeback Kids Win in Nashville Dec 27, 2023

Show notes

If you think winning is better than losing and you're still riding high from another comeback win (this time on Christmas Eve), well, welcome in ... you'll love this episode of 3 IN, 3 OUT. We're praising the interior d-line for getting after the Titans quarterback and discussing how our wide receivers continue to be clutch when it matters most. On the flip side, some free-runners near the goal line had both Clinton and Brandan shaking their heads.

Live & UnCatfished: Colby Parkinson Saves Christmas! Dec 25, 2023

Show notes

Both the Seahawks offensive and defensive lines struggled against a more physical opposition for most of the game. Derrick Henry reminded us that he could still be the same guy who was as tough to bring down as in previous matchups. Fortunately, the Seahawks reminded us that if they have a shot to win the game in the fourth quarter that they're going to take it. After being knocked back from the goal line on a second down run, Geno Smith found Colby Parkinson in the end zone. Despite being mugged, Parkinson came down with the go-ahead touchdown. Finally, with the Titans able to take one last shot to get into field goal range, Riq Woolen made a heads up tackle to run out the final seconds of the clock.

PNW Prop Stars: Seahawks Studs vs. Titans Flubs Dec 24, 2023

Show notes

The boys are back! Wilson won the week vs. the Eagles and the Boy Prince looks to increase his lead in Week 16. Clinton enters go big or go home time and is betting a certain Titans RB (hint: not Henry) is in line for a good day. Adam and Wilson are riding with Geno while Clinton sees a big day for DK coming right up. Finally, could JSN's upward trajectory continue right into a +2200 situation on Sunday? If it does, there will be a nice Christmas bonus for Wilson.
