"Vestal Virgins, Soul-Sucking Shapeshifters & a Clowder of Cats!" - STEPHEN KING'S SLEEPWALKERS (1992) Mar 21, 2025

Show notes

"Outrageous!"-"Ridiculous!"-"Offensive!"-"Fabulous!"

Well, enough about me. Let's talk about SLEEPWALKERS!

Join me, Patrick Walsh, and my guest, everyone's favorite New York City-based undead horror host Unkle Spooky on a deranged deep dive into the delicious chaos that is STEPHEN KING'S SLEEPWALKERS, a film as taboo and flawed as it is wildly entertaining.

Tanya and Charles are the perfect All-American high school couple about to go on their first date. Unfortunately for Tanya, Charles and his mother are unkillable incestuous shapeshifting werecats who feed on the souls of young virgins, and Tanya is next on their menu!

Will Tanya fall prey to these kinky beasts? Or is there an adorable four-legged hero somewhere who knows the one thing that can stop this monstrous duo forever?

Look, I know this movie is a hot mess, but I still love it, warts and all, because hiding under all the absurdity, there's true greatness just waiting for someone to find it.

And that someone is ME.

SLEEPWALKERS was directed by Mick Garris, written by Stephen King and stars Mädchen Amick, Brian Krause, Alice Krige and Ron Perlman.

Val Lewton's Queer-Coded Film Noir Masterpiece - CAT PEOPLE (1942) Feb 27, 2025

Show notes

"You can fool everybody, but landy deary me, you can't fool a cat!"

Irena, a lonely young Serbian immigrant, believes she is descended from a tribe of shape-shifting witches and fears that any physical intimacy will change her into a killer jungle cat. Irena can run. Irena can hide. But she cannot deny the Beast Inside.

CAT PEOPLE somehow managed to tell a clearly queer-coded tale of forbidden desires and unspeakable passions at the height of Hayes Code Production censorship, and we are thrilled that it did, because this film is a delight to watch.

My special guest this episode are TARA GARNER and KASEY LOMAN.

CAT PEOPLE was produced by VAL LEWTON, directed by JACQUES TOURNEUR, written by DEWITT BODEEN and stars SIMONE SIMON, KENT SMITH, JANE RANDOLPH and TOM CONWAY.

MARGAUX (2020) - "J!zz House: The House That J!zzed" Jan 31, 2025

Show notes

Please excuse these crappy AI show notes. They're just placeholders

until the real ones are finished later today.

Prepare yourself for a wild ride through the Canadian horror weirdness when host Patrick Walsh is joined by the fabulous Creepy Kitsch girls, Cindy and Stacy to discuss MARGAUX: the killer smart house movie ` for a lively discussion that ranges from the film's plot to its outrageous moments and everything in between. Right from the get-go, Patrick's infectious energy sets the tone, hinting at the movie's more ridiculous elements while also revealing unexpected layers of storytelling that caught him off guard. It’s refreshing to hear them dissect a film that many might dismiss outright, as they uncover the nuances in character development and the surprisingly well-crafted narrative that lies beneath the chaotic exterior.

*REPOST- Editing Errors Fixed* - UNCLE PECKERHEAD (2020) Nov 29, 2024

Show notes

***This episode of ScreamQueenz was first released on 11/29/2024 with an excessive amount of editing errors making the show unlistenable.

The errors have been fixed. My apologies for the sloppiness.***

Punk rock will never die!

But punk rockers sure do.

Plus they are delicious.

In UNCLE PECKERHEAD (currently streaming on Prime, Hulu, Sling TV and The Roku Channel), a fledging punk band starting out on their first tour discovers their new hot Southern daddy roadie is also a man-eating...thing.

They also discover...that's not a dealbreaker.

On the surface, "Uncle Peckerhead" is a delightfully fun, gory, campy, feel-good rock 'n roll road trip movie with a ton of genuine heart that's shockingly queer positive!

But lurking deep underneath all that sweet Southern charm is an insidiously wicked "deal with the devil" Faustian pact story.

And Judy and her band are about to learn that when you bargain with the devil, he ALWAYS gets his due...

My very special guests this episode are the editor of Bear World Magazine and Stan the Mechanics' alter ego, JOHN HERNANDEZ, and co-creator and star of "Good Cops" and "I Had a Bloody Good Time at House Harker", DEREK HAUGEN.

UNCLE PECKERHEAD was written & directed by MATTHEW JOHN LAWRENCE and stars DAVID LITTLETON, CHET SIEGAL, JEFF RIDDLE and RUBY McCOLLISTER

"Never Come Between a Boy and His Jewelry..." - IN A VIOLENT NATURE (2024) Oct 28, 2024

Show notes

Happy Halloween, my Beautiful Screamerz!

To celebrate our favorite holiday, I'm tackling one of the most polarizing, controversial and underestimated films of the year: the Canadian experimental slasher film IN A VIOLENT NATURE. [Currently Streaming on Shudder]

Did you love it? Or did you hate it?

What happens when you strip a horror movie of all humanity?

Is it a fascinating examination of human psychology, horror voyeurism and audience ethics?

Or is it a boring slog with a few good kills and a whole lot of walking?

Joining me for this episode are my co-hosts from "Damn You Uncle Lewis", Trae Dean and Maya Murphy.

We'll explore how director Chris Nash toyed with the basic rules of filmmaking to craft a film designed deliberately to make viewers feel mentally detached and emotionally.

More importantly, we'll make you understand why he made the movie this way.

Whether you loved IN A VIOLENT NATURE or hated it, you'll see it in a brand new light after this episode of ScreamQueenz!

Excerpts of MICHAEL CAINE are from Michael Caine: On Acting In Film (1987) Directed by DAVID G. CROFT.

IN A VIOLENT NATURE was written and directed by CHRIS NASH and stars RY BARRETT, ANDREA PAVALOVIC, CAMERON LOVE, REESE PRESLEY, LIAM LEONE, CHARLOTTE CREAGHAN, LEA ROSE SEBASTIANIS, SAM ROULSTON, ALEXANDER OLIVER, TIMOTHY PAUL MCCARTHY, JT JACOBS and LAUREN MARIE TAYLOR

"Bad Wigs and Chimney Monsters!" - DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK (1973) Jul 05, 2024

Show notes

Welcome aboard Polyester Time Traveling Airlines non-stop flight to October 10, 1973; the night DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK premiered as the ABC Movie of the Week.

This is one of the Big Ones!

A Classic!

If people remember ONE 1970's made-for-tv horror movie, it's usually this one!

An entire generation of TV-watching children was scarred for LIFE by this chilling tale of a lonely housewife terrorized by tiny whispering creatures dwelling in her fireplace.

To handle a journey this fraught with peril, I needed a copilot with nerves of steel.

But he was busy.

So I got TOPPIE SMELLIE from THE SMELLCAST.

Expect turbulence, unhappy endings and truly unfortunate wigs.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK is currently available to stream for free on Dailymotion.

Directed by John Newland. Written by Nigel McKeand. Starring Kim Darby, Jim Hutton,Barbara Anderson and William Demarest.
