While working full time in an administrative function for the active guard reserves, she accidentally was witness to illegal activities on the base. Officers were engaged in money laundering activities resulting in millions of dollars of illegal withdrawals. Davis reported the activity internally without results. She then reported the activities to the Arizona Auditor General which officially uncovered 2.7 million dollars of laundered funds (more have been identified since that time). Like many whistleblowers, Davis has been heavily persecuted for her heroic actions. She was fired, non-recommended for promotion, and wrongfully pushed out on a fake/made up medical condition without involving the mandatory medical board. She also has never been diagnosed with any mental condition. Fortunately, she was able to be honorably discharged. Currently, Debbie Davis has a pending lawsuit against the Arizona National Guard for the illegal actions and retaliations she has had to endure to this day. The harassment continues to effect her personal life, even now, after 8 years. Harassment includes multiple attempts on her life and various serious threats.
