    Thousands of people die or are injured in automobile crashes each year. By leveraging in-vehicle advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving systems (ADS) more proactively, errors caused by human drivers can be reduced, resulting in less fatal and serious car crashes.

    237. Closing the Battery Manufacturing Knowledge Gap Jul 25, 2024

    Battery manufacturing in the United States is in its early days, however, more and more factories are ramping up to supply EVs, energy storage on the grid, and other markets.

    To speed up the learning curve, Voltaiq is using battery intelligence software to identify issues faster, thus decreasing scrap rate and reducing battery manufacturing ramp-up time for global OEMs, consumer electronics companies, battery manufacturers and energy storage developers and operators.

    235. Scaling 2 Million Miles in Autonomous Trucking Jul 18, 2024

    A traditional Class 8 truck is on the road for a million miles or more over its lifetime. For autonomous trucks, that number could double to two million or more—and that requires a specialty focus on scalability and safety.

    Enter Continental Automotive, a multinational automotive parts manufacturer pioneering technologies and services for the sustainable and connected mobility of people and goods. Continental has partnered with Aurora to commercially scale autonomous trucking systems. Together, they recently finalized the completion of the blueprint and design of the future Aurora Driver hardware and fallback system.

    234. Solar Powered Boating on the Great Lakes Jul 11, 2024

    With 20 percent of the world's fresh water, Michigan plays a large role in the future of maritime mobility. Recreational boating, commercial shipping, ports, and harbors serve a crucial role in the economic vitality of Michigan’s coastal communities and the Great Lakes.

    That’s why the Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently launched the Fresh Coast Maritime Challenge to help decarbonize the state’s waterways. As part of this grant, Lilypad Labs, a startup based in Holland, Mich., launched the Lilypad, a sharable, 100 percent solar powered boat that provides a quiet, sustainable, and pollution-free boating experience.

    For more than 50 years, Intel has worked to advance the design and manufacturing of semiconductors. As the automotive industry shifts to electrification and software-defined vehicle infrastructures, Intel Automotive offers a scalable product portfolio, regionally resilient manufacturing, and demonstrated industry transformation experience. In fact, Intel Automotive is working with SAE to develop vehicle platform management standard, SAE J3311.
