    Looking Ahead at Policy and Research in Student Affairs & Higher Education Apr 01, 2021

    Today on SA Voices from the Field we are talking with Dr. Amelia Parnell, Vice President for Research and Policy with NASPA as we look at the future of policy and research in student affairs and higher education.

    Amelia Parnell is vice president for research and policy at NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, where she leads many of the Association's scholarly and advocacy-focused activities. Amelia writes and speaks frequently about topics related to student affairs, college affordability, student learning outcomes, and institutions' use of data and analytics. Amelia's policy and practitioner experiences include prior roles in association management, legislative policy analysis, internal audit, and TRIO programs. Her research portfolio includes studies of leadership in higher education, with a focus on college presidents and vice presidents. She is the author of the forthcoming book, You Are a Data Person: Strategies for Using Analytics on Campus and a co-editor of the book, The Analytics Revolution in Higher Education: Big Data, Organizational Learning, and Student Success.

    Amelia currently serves on the board of directors for EDUCAUSE and is an advisor to several other higher education organizations. She holds a Ph.D. in higher education from Florida State University and masters and bachelor's degrees in business administration from Florida A & M University.

    Meet Dr. Daniel R. Wildcat, Annual Conference Keynote Speaker Mar 18, 2021

    Today on SA Voices from the Field we are talking with Dr. Daniel R. Wildcat, one of the NASPA annual conference keynote speakers for the 2021 NASPA annual conference.

    Daniel R. Wildcat is a Yuchi member of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma. His service as teacher and administrator at Haskell spans 34 years. In 2013 he was the Gordon Russell visiting professor of Native American Studies at Dartmouth College. He has served as adjunct faculty for the Bloch School - UMKC for the past decade. In 1994 he helped form a partnership with the Hazardous Substance Research Center at Kansas State University to create the Haskell Environmental Research Studies (HERS) Center as a non-profit Native American research center.

    Dr. Wildcat recommended the following book as his essential student affairs read: Power and Place: Indian Education in America
