    Rockonteurs is a podcast all about the real stories behind real music.

    Presented by Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp, who wrote and performed megahits like ‘Gold’ and ‘True’, and Guy Pratt, a bass player who shaped songs for the likes of Madonna and Pink Floyd, you’ll hear exclusive stories of life on the road, in the studio and what really happened behind the scenes from artists who wrote, performed and produced the some of the biggest classic rock and pop tracks of all time.

    This week on Rockonteurs we welcome singer, songwriter Gilbert O’Sullivan to the podcast. Gilbert (real name Ray) has been making music since the early 1970s and has enjoyed some huge hits here and in the US with tracks like ‘Alone Again (Naturally)’, ‘Clair’ and ‘Get Down’. He is incredibly prolific and never stops writing, recording and touring. His new album ‘Songbook’ is out now and is a beautiful collection of newly recorded versions of his own catalogue.

    Music merchandise is a multi-million-dollar empire, and everyone has their favourite band T-shirt, but where did it start and how does it impact the bands and artist estates that it benefits. Norman Perry runs one of the most successful music merchandise companies Perryscope and he protects the image and merchandise rights for artists like Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Genesis, Tom Petty, David Bowie, and Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets to name but a few.

    Norman has worked with so many of the greatest artists of all time and in this episode, he shares tales of a life behind the scenes working with the great and godlike and how he helps to keep the fan connection alive for so many of our favourite acts.

Paul is a fabulous raconteur, and he has some incredible stories from a moment in music history when one band and one album created a music genre that changed everything. He chats to Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt about his journey, his influences, and how the Sex Pistols exploded onto the scene. With tales of life on the road with the Pistols, that infamous Grundy TV appearance that was never meant to happen, and how it all came crashing down for the band while on tour in the US, this is a must listen. Plus, Paul talks about the new line up of the band with Frank Carter that has been enjoying some incredible reviews, the upcoming live dates and how there might be more to come from the Sex Pistols.
