Show notes

Breakfast of Champions has a staple of my breakbeat and dance menu since I moved to San Francisco in 2005. This year was my first time playing the event. You wouldn't know that this was an 11am set from all the banging music on all the stages and the fully packed dance floors. The Space Cowboys and San Francisco know how to kick in a new year. more from kev/null Facebook: https://kevnull.com/djkevnull Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/kevnull

Brad Robinson RIPEcast Live BoC2017 Mar 01, 2017

Show notes

It was another amazing year of community and music, which combined with a whole lot if sunshine, made for another epic Breakfast of Champions. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Space Cowboys and to rock the outdoor stage with me. There were a lot of familiar faces in the crowd that I have been so fortunate to celebrate this event with for well of a decade. Hope that you enjoy this live set which includes some of my favorite tracks from 2016 including sounds from Jay Vegas, Rescue, DJ Dan, Luca Debonaire, Sonny Fodera, and Mason. Play this loud!!!

ShOOey RIPEcast - Breakfast Of Champions 2017 Feb 09, 2017

Show notes

As always, Breakfast of Champions was another great start to the new year. The Space Cowboys once again brought the best party of the year and I wasn't going to let my knee and crutches hold me back! With a bit of help, I managed to get through the whole day and had an awesome time playing the closing set outside. Thanks for all the love on the dancefloor! Our generous attendees made the day even better by giving $8,178 at the door for the SF-Marin Food Bank. 8ball - Love Is Resistance - Feb 2017 Feb 01, 2017

Show notes

This mix is about resistance, soul, hope, love, empathy, soul, and funkiness. It's partially a reaction to the deep outrage and anger so many, including myself, have felt and expressed since November. That much outrage, while justifiable, gets heavy fast, so I started looking for tracks that felt optimistic and free. There's some disco, soulful house, and a few excellent South African house tracks (mostly Black Coffee), and it starts with some of Obama's speech at the 50th anniversary of the Selma march. xo, 8ball
