Interview with James Pinkerton Jan 07, 2019
    Show notes

My guest is Jim Pinkerton, a columnist, author and political analyst. You can read his work at the American Conservative and Breitbart. He's a grad of Stanford University and served on the White House staff under both Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush. Jim worked on each of their presidential campaigns for 1980 and 1992, and he also was a senior advisor to the Mike Huckabee 2008 presidential campaign. Jim is an expert on some of the topics that are near and dear to my heart. I have been working on the Obamacare issue since it was first just a glimmer in President Obama and the Congress’s eyes. In today’s show, we discuss: • How a recent decision by a Texas judge declaring Obamacare unconstitutional will affect the debate on healthcare going • Why it was a mistake for Republicans to not have a replacement for Obamacare from the beginning • How a federally-mandated healthcare system will affect innovation in the field of medical developments • The expanding euthanasia regime in Europe as death panelists penetrate the European health system • The dangers of the mantra that we’re spending too much on health care which leads to euthanasia as a utilitarian budget saving device • The weird eugenics, population culling going on influenced by insurance companies • Rationing of health care • What tax reforms would he like to see • Why there should be greater use of natural resources like gas and oil to create clean fuel • The generational shift of younger people not getting drivers licenses, taking public transit and seeing the automobile as a service • Jordan Peterson - what is driving his popularity, why there is the hunger for his kind of message • The PC-totalitarian culture of today • Individual responsibility • Thoughts on the Financial Times picking George Soros as the Man of the Year • The Right is not interested in funding media unless they can make money from it; more interested in funding political campaign ads and PACS • Why the Left is much smarter than the right in funding media, even though it’s not financially beneficial for them, but the media advances and supports leftists’ policies • Why it’s much more valuable to have the positive media coverage then spending tons of money on campaign ads or PACS • There should be more funding of conservative media, including investigative reporting • Soros gave the Drug Policy Institute $60M to fight against hard drug (cocaine, heroin) enforcement worldwide • His reaction to shutting down of Weekly Standard; On their tombstone will read: they were the architects of Iraq War, one of the greatest disasters • Reflections on George HW Bush, who he worked for from 1985-1992 • Bush family’s decision to have Alan Simpson defend the catastrophic decision to raise taxes • Pitfalls of political dynasties FOLLOW: Twitter: @JamesPPinkerton Breitbart: https://www.breitbart.com/author/james-p-pinkerton/ American Conservative: https://www.theamericanconservative.com/author/james-p-pinkerton RATE (Reforming America’s Taxes Equitably) Coalition: http://ratecoalition.com/ - - - - Gayle Totter's Website: gayletrotter.com/ Twitter: @gayletrotter Support Gayle's RIGHT IN DC Podcasts: patreon.com/gayletrotter

Interview with psychology expert Dr. Gina Loudon diagnosing the left, the media and Trump Dec 17, 2018
    Show notes

Today my guest is Dr. Gina Loudon, a good friend of mine. We met first in LA in 2011 at the TALKERS Radio Conference and I have been so excited to watch the impact that she has had in politics. She has a beautiful family. I loved seeing her in Palm Beach a couple weeks ago when I was down there. Dr. Gina is a member of the Trump 2020 Campaign Media Advisory Board. She's a popular guest analyst on Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, HLN, and she's co-host of America Talks Live on Newsmax TV. Her new book is, "Mad Politics: Keeping Your Sanity in a World Gone Crazy" (https://www.amazon.com/Mad-Politics-Keeping-Sanity-World/dp/1621578038). In our interview, we discuss: • How the liberal media inflates the credentials of people they agree with but deflates the credentials of those they oppose • Why the media want to discuss the WHAT but not the WHY--the psychology/motives behind actions • Why the human behavior element needs to be taken into consideration • Liberals argue on an emotional level; conservatives on reason, but people respond to the emotional • Why it's easier to walk through life being a leftist/liberal (hint: you don't have to think) • Why it takes more courage to be a conservative, especially a conservative woman • Looking at the motives of the presidential candidates (their desire to step forward in their careers, the money, the power, the accomplishment); why she decided to support Donald Trump because he didn't need any of these • Trump risked it all to put himself in a middle of a war for unselfish reasons with nothing to gain • Why not being owned by special interests makes Trump independent of the political establishment and why that scares them • What Trump is like as a friend • How Trump is able to deal with such unprecedented harsh treatment on a daily basis just for wanting to serve his country • Trump's faults: he is too honest and too loyal • Psychology behind the Rex Tillerson tweet • How the media weaponized George H.W. Bush's death and funeral against Trump • Why the media opposes civil discourse for monetary reasons • Desire for page views (= money) and competition creates outrageous click-bait headlines that fuel society's anger • The unprecedented attacks on free speech and why this requires a counter-puncher like Trump to lead us through • Why the media longs for a weaker president who can be controlled • Why the media want to define who we are and not allow people to politically evolve and change their views • Why the media would be the biggest losers in their war against the First Amendment • How the Second Amendment changes the balance of power for women • Why criminals and mass shooters are drawn to "gun-free zones" • The story behind Gina's adopted son with Down's Syndrome and why it's such a tragedy that babies like this are aborted • The left trying to take down her book on Amazon by false ratings • The need to follow the truth even though it costs you MORE: Website: https://drginaloudon.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/realdrgina Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/realdrgina New Book: https://www.amazon.com/Mad-Politics-Keeping-Sanity-World/dp/1621578038 Mad Politics: Keeping Your Sanity in a World Gone Crazy --- Gayle Totter's Website: gayletrotter.com/ Twitter: @gayletrotter Support Gayle's RIGHT IN DC Podcasts: patreon.com/gayletrotter

Interview with newly-elected Congressman Chip Roy Nov 30, 2018
    Show notes

My guest today on RIGHT IN DC is Chip Roy. Chip is a longtime friend of mine and I would call him an ideological compadre as we both revere the US Constitution, and our civil liberties and rights under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We both attended the University of Virginia together and he went on to be very involved in politics. Chip worked as the First Assistant Attorney General of Texas under Texas AG Ken Paxton, who I had the honor of meeting at the recent Federal Society conference in DC a few weeks ago. Chip was a senior advisor to Texas Governor Rick Perry and was Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz. Chip is a former federal prosecutor, having served as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas. Congratulations are now in order for his exciting victory in November to represent the 21st District of Texas to the US House of Representatives. In my interview with him, we discuss: • Secure borders, building the wall and illegal immigration • Why it is in the interest of immigrants that we secure the borders and follow the rule of law • Why he decided to get involved in politics considering so many conservatives don’t because they are so disgusted by what happens in Washington, DC • How will he avoid getting “swamp fever” when he gets to Washington and become part of the entrenched establishment • Why it would be better for the power to come back into the states so we wouldn’t all have to be at each other’s throats so someone from one state wouldn’t tell someone in another state what to do • Why, during the new Congressman orientation session he attended, the entirety of the talk the Republicans were having, from leadership on down was how do we get the power back instead of focusing on accomplishing what we were elected to do • Why the push to “out-Democrat the Democrats” is a bad idea to getting Republicans back in power • Why he was running against Congress during his campaign • How important it is to support conservative women and help them get their message out • Impact of Ted Cruz trying to stop Obamacare on the House floor • Why the Republicans, when they had the power, did nothing on Obamacare and other issues people elected them to do “American people are hungry for people who will stand up and do what they say they will do.” • His views on the Second Amendment and the right for people and families to defend themselves • The Kavanaugh hearings and why the Supreme Court is not functioning the way it should be functioning and that we need to stop waiting around for judges to tell us what we can do—they shouldn’t have that much power MORE https://chiproy.com/ Twitter: @chiproytx https://www.facebook.com/ChipRoyforCongress/ --- Gayle Totter's Website: gayletrotter.com/ Twitter: @gayletrotter Support Gayle's RIGHT IN DC Podcasts: www.patreon.com/gayletrotter

Sheila Wenz - Teaching People to Become Standup Comedians Nov 07, 2018
    Show notes

My guest today on Right in DC is Sheila Wenz who is the founder of Stand-Up Studios--DC Comedy Classes for Everyone which is located in Washington, DC. (http://www.standupstudios.com/) I came to know Sheila because I decided that I wanted to conquer one of my biggest fears: I had this fear of comedy, of being able to tell a joke. I have this weird part of my brain that I can only remember the punchlines of jokes, I can never remember the setup of jokes. So I was scrolling around the internet and looking for comedy classes so that I could go see what it was all about and Sheila's Stand-Up Studios DC popped up. I thought why not conquer this fear and find out if I had what it took to at least get up on the stage and make a complete fool of myself. But I was so surprised by Sheila’s class--it was very inspiring and one of the best experiences in my life. She made it such a bigger experience than comedy and now I don’t have that fear anymore. In my interview with Sheila, I cover: • Is my fear of being able to tell a joke common? • What type of people take these classes • How Shelia got into comedy and also teaching it • How the key to doing comedy is focused first on writing and editing • What is the “Third Rail” in comedy? • How do you know what the audience will be receptive to? • Handling different types of audiences • How do you handle hecklers? • Sharing your life story • Her opinion on political comedy • Why political standup comedy doesn’t work in Washington, DC • Controversy over SNL mocking a Congressional candidate and former Navy Seal who had lost his eye in battle • Has comedy changed during her career? • Challenges of women in the comedy industry • Who is her favorite comedian and why? And she explains more about her standup comedy classes she offers in DC and on Skype, and advice to those wanting to grow their comedy career. - Gayle's Website: https://gayletrotter.com Twitter: @gayletrotter Support Gayle's Podcasts: https://www.patreon.com/gayletrotter

Susana chats about her childhood in Venezuela, the country’s culture and the current struggle for freedom.
